I hope Fletcher retires-we need to start blooding Slattery, Danniher etc. and teach the defense to play accounatble foot without Fletch there.

yeah we do need to blood young players but we also need some experienced players on the feild it looks as though fletch hille and mcveigh would be the only ones the rest are kids

For those saying that McVeigh has had a poor year, i'd love to see how many goals his opponents have kicked this season. He has been asked to play the small lockdown defender and I can't recall any small defender kicking a bag of goals on him.

Yes, he has turned the ball over a bit of late but who hasn't.

Think people are being a tad harsh on his year.

Totally agree.

I'm happy with all the contracts. I was a bit worried we'd lose Reimers to be honest.

Reimers is the type of player that will thrive in a team that's winning.

We needed to keep McVeigh around considering we have had a complete lack of experienced players at the club, he is a vital keep. Probably should have been on a 1 year deal but if his form goes down next year, he could at least be a good depth player.

Glad Gumby re-signed. Smart move from him to sign a 2 year deal. That's when he will be near his peak and will be able to cash in on it.

Certainly need to keep guys like Jetta, Houli, Myers, T.Slattery and Davey.

These guys have come through the 06 & 07 drafts and are vital in our rebuilding.

Guys like Atkinson, Laycock are expendable. Lonergan is a good player to have around although I'm not 100% sold on him being in our best 22.

I nearly crashed my car this morning when I heard Reimers got a 2 year deal. What has this bloke shown? NOT MUCH IMO. For some reason Knights feels the need to play him in the midfield of late, not sure why as he IS NOT A MIDFIELDER. He is strickly a forward and plays much better around the goals. Play Zaka and Lonergan in the midfield over Reimers.

McVeigh should only have been offered 1 year. Williams 3 years, Knights 2 years and McVeigh 2 years are three contracts that have been questionable in my opinion.

It's almost like they think someone who won't have any senior players will make an offer for him when free agency comes in year after next.
But lucky there's never been any rumours about him moving back to his home state & it's doubly lucky his old coach isn't going to be coaching a side up there in 2012.
Would it be such a loss if we lost him at the end of next year?

He'd be lucky to be worthy of a spot on our list by then, IMO.

Interesting to read people questioning supporters who feel McVeigh shouldn't play on, yet questioning whether he should've only been offered one year instead of the reported two years.

Be curious to read the pro-Mcveigh supporters in a years time.

Reimers is a worry. Downhill skier personified and an attitude problem.

Great to see Gumby rewarded for his determination to overcome career threatening injuries. Depending on Carlisle's development, can certainly see a Carlisle and Gumby working in tandem.

Expect a massive weights program for these two lads over the off season.

I am fairly certain that McVeigh will finish Top 5 in the B and F.

I cant recall him being ripped up by an opponent, after moving to the back pocket.

I would have signed him for one year, but the club chose two years.

I am wondering if they want him around for 2 years, because other senior type players may be given the flick.

Happy with the signings.. would have preferred mcveigh on one and see how he holds up.

The key question is why would you sign guys 3 days before a "review" starts. Absolute joke. Must give the new coach a chance to start forming his own list right from day one.

happy with Gumbleton signing, other two havent shown enough this year to warrant an extension i feel. and as mentioned before, bit weird to offer mcveigh a two year instead of a one year contract at his age.

Reimers OK.
McVeigh No way
Gumbleton Maybe.
Strange how Essendon recruiters passed on Joel Selwood to pick up Gumbleton. Reason? They thought Selwood was injury prone. Now there's a kick in the guts. For Essendon supporters.
