Carlton leads the tally with 22, Essendon 20, Geelong and Collingwood 17 apiece, Melbourne 16, Richmond 13, Hawthorn 13 with South Melbourne/Sydney eighth on the table with 10 flags.

Again, you make an idiot of yourself, we have 2 VFA cups, 8 McClelland trophies, 3 Australian cups, final total = 26 now get back in the line minnow!

I think Colin might be making things up to sell books to desperate Cats supporters

In May 1877 the Victorian Football Association (VFA) was formed, joining the South Australian Football Association (established a few weeks earlier) amongst the oldest established football competitions in the world. In 1897 a number of the stronger VFA clubs formed the breakaway Victorian Football League which became the premier competition. The VFA, though remained, strong and viable for many years, still able to lure players from the VFL.

How do we know it was the premier competition in the 1800's many reports still have the VFA as a stronger comp for a number of year after the VFL was formed?

Ironically, Collingwood also wanted to see reforms, even though it was, itself, a new club that had only been formed in 1892, mainly out of the Junior club, Britannia
Although Geelong had finished 11th in a 13 team competition, they had consistently been calling for change. Their record as a top team in past years would have also ensured their place at the table
Carlton and St Kilda were also invited to join the VFL, initially making it an eight team competition. St Kilda had never been a strength in the VFA but their excellent home ground was seen as being a bonus for the new VFL

Carlton had not been a top team for a number of years but their dominance in the 1860s and 1870s meant that they still had one of the largest supporter bases.

So we have Collingwood in because they wanted reforms, Geelong because they were once successful even though they finished 11th out of 13 that year, St Kilda who were ordinary in because they had a good ground and Carlton who like Geelong hadn't been a top side in years in because they had some supporters, doesn't sound like the premier competition to me?

Tuggers and Flogpies really hate being minnows living in the shade of the awesome Cats but it is what it is - accept your lowly status and move on.

Sorry opposition flogs, there can only be 1 leader of the pack and we're it:

17 flags, one of the 2 oldest football clubs in the world, inventor of the greatest game, location for the final game of the inaugural season of the VFL, home of the greatest player of all time + the name of the league fairest and best - we have been showered with accolades in our long and illustrious history. Deservedly so.

We are Geelong, The Greatest Team Of All!

While clubs like 14thmond can only look back to the past to try to alleviate the abject misery of another 37+ years in the wilderness, Geelong strides bravely forward towards the future sure in the knowledge that even more premierships are just around the corner.

Honestly, who wouldn't want to be in our shoes? 17 premierships, a brand new magnificent stand named after the greatest captain of all-time, an iron-clad reputation as the destination club with stars and hidden gems banging on the door to be admitted unto our hallowed halls - it's a bit sad that the rest of the competition has been left sooooo far behind.

Meanwhile, those chips on the shoulders of opposition flogs are getting bigger and heavier. The frustration burns bright in the Bay from the usual suspects in their fruitless attempts to ridicule Geelong's elevated untouchable status as the Greatest Team Of All. Their antics would be enough to make a grown man weep if they weren't so hilarious.

1963 to 2007 equals 44 years if I'm correct and as I've said time and time again before the scat fans only have selective memories and like to make up delusional AFL premierships because they can't handle being unsuccessful minnows, it's really so sad to watch. :$

14thmond spent 37 years in the wilderness if I'm correct and as I've said time and time again before the Tiggers fans only have selective memories and like to make up delusional BS because we can't handle being minnows, it's really so sad to watch.
Poor Tig Tug can't read and doesn't understand that another next 37+ years in the wilderness refers to the future. Geelong will be looking from on high laughing till our sides split at 14thmond's pathetic efforts to scramble back up the ladder, all to no avail.

Meanwhile, Tugging Tigger will be attending Remedial English Comprehension classes along with his secret Colonwobble lovers. Hope you learn lots, little man :)

Kissed on the dick from AFL again with their easy draw, go figure.
Top 4 and only played at home once.
We’ve been ripped by the AFL getting only 2 games in Geelong in the first 8 rounds

Edit: 3 Geelong games in 10 rounds, what the actual **** does the AFL have against Geelong, is it because of the 17 flags?

Edit Edit: it’s actually only 3 Geelong games in 11 rounds of Football.
If that’s not the toughest draw and evidence the AFL can’t get over the fact we won 17 flags (all of them in the premier competition of the time) then show me a more rigged draw!
