Poor bloke was knackered tonight but played his heart out and despite being rooted, didn't give away many(if any) frees in the stoppages
Onlycrotocism, made in hindsight, is he tired himself out a bit at the contested ball early on. Not something you can ping him for at all, if anything it deserves an extra pat on the back

Well done dude, inspiring....

Side note: never placed too much vaue in ruckman, bit today showed youat least need a couple who can make a contest.

Twister has got one helluva big heart and tried his guts out all day, again.:thumbsu::thumbsu:
Grimley simply has to come in or Lowden needs to make a miracle recovery from the greatest mystery injury of recent times.

Bring in Lisle, the only person i can think of that may add to the ruck at the moment.

Lisle is carrying an injury of some description I believe.

One I did forget was Dowler.
If he is over the ankle injury which I think he is, hopefully he can come in to support Twister next week.
I know he lacks agression but he has a tank big enough to enable him to run all day and we need something.
This is a perfect time for Dowler to stop ****ing around "do something".

If Twister goes down we might as well pack up and go home.

I totally concur... if he didnt get a hitout all day i would still congratulate him.... he is a warrior and has the spirit that all hawthorners should hold...

ill even forgive him for being a new zealander! :)

Agree hats off to the boy.
Need the 2nd ruckman next week against the pies with Jolly and Fraser otherwise we will get killed at the stopages, even if it is one of the kids, just to give Renouf a 5 minute breather here and there.

Apologies, just realised we have the dogs next week - that been said they have Minson and Hudson and a gun midfield so the 2nd ruckman should be included

Gee, sure wish I worked in an industry where I got pats on the back just for showing up and doing my job!

Renouf was outclassed by both his opponents today, which was also the single biggest reason why we lost the game.

Have we seriously reached the point where we need to cheer the players (who are very well paid let me remind you) just for pulling on the jumper and taking the field?

Excuse me if I hold my praise for a match in which Renouf actually beats his opponent. This is Hawthorn, our goal is to win premierships. If you want to celebrate mediocrity I suggest you barrack for Fremantle!

Hats off to the boy.

Did MORE than "just his job" today. Not many Ruckman in the league have to ruck all day on their own against 2 of the better blokes going around.

Showed real signs of maturity as well. I can't remember him giving away a single free kick in a ruck contest either which is very diciplined. Could have been forgiven for getting frustrated today and doing some silly things, but he kept it together well.

From how i saw it he won the first 3 quarters, was getting a good jump in making a contest of it, Geelong having 2 ruckmen is what killed him, you could tell when Ottens went into the middle he ha no chance.

Great game today Brent, with a bit of help you can become a very good ruckmen for the HFC

Renouf was EXCELLENT, red hot go for 4 Quarters.
Same for Sammy Mitchell clearly Hawthorn best player for last 3 years.:)

To Messrs Taylor, Skipper, Bailey...

You Gentlemen have been in the system for many years now. Renouf has only been in the system for 3 years. Today he rucked against the might of Ottens/Blake. He was absolutely knackered and had every right to hold his head high today.

So I implore you three...to do whatever it takes to play for the Hawks. Grab your opportunities and please do your rehabs as quickly as you can. Brent simply cannot do this for much longer.

AC: You better pick Dowler this week...I watched training today and he played in the middle as a running ruckman. Sewelly helped him out by positioning and the like. We simply need him to be out there to compete.

Cheers
D

Getting outclassed is one thing... Having the stamina to compete against 2 ruckman in a tough, grinding match against a seasoned opposition in Geelong by yourself, takes Superhuman efforts to go the distance. Sorry Renouf is not Supeman !!!
