Despite the disappointing result the Giants were always going to be tough with the players we were missing, they had more missing but they have also had about 70 first round picks so can cover them easier. I am proud but frustrated.

Good to see Rough bouncing back, wasn't at his best but was good tonight.

Need to improve our bottom 6 or we can't compete with the best teams.

Seriously embarrassing that people blame the umpires tonight.

We won the free kick count.

Lost contested possessions 189-136.

Lost clearances 51-28.

Quite simply, we were outclassed. The only thing saving us from a 10-goal drubbing was their kicking and Alistair Clarkson.

Seriously, someone start up a gofundme page to sign Clarko up for life.

Umpires were shit. Who cares about the numbers. You can call them out for being shit and still know what we did wrong to lose the game at the same time.

Standard of umpiring not helping the look of the game even more noticably than ever before. The AFLs solution: let's screw with the rules yet again. Hey fwits! How's about approaching your umpiring fraternity which appears rotten from the inside and fixing that dogs breakfast up! Start with that wannabe star RC and pick that profession (?) apart because they are ruining a lot of what's great about this sport.

Ricky Henderson has flown under the radar a bit. He hasn't had a good game for a while.

When we are getting flogged for inside ball like we were tonight it is going to be hard for outside types like Henderson to have an impact. It is a credit to Smith's elite capabilities as a pure winger that he was till able to work his way into the game.

Happy with the Hawks effort overall. Scoreboard probably a little flattering especially if GWS kicked straight. However, that was by far the worst umpiring display I have ever seen. Even the commentators were gobsmacked from some of the decisions.
Also, why does nearly every contest need to be determined by an umpiring decision based on the tiniest indiscretion that has no influence on the contest only to be interrupted by something the umpire thinks he saw. It’s so frustrating and my love of the game is hanging by a thin thread.

TEAMWORK.

It's not there. Players going at the same ball, or marking the same opponent, or putting their teammates under pressure. It was hard to watch. The Bulldogs will bring the exact same contested style next week, and I expect to see O'Rourke/Lovell/Worpel brought in because that was embarrassing around the ball.

As an aside. That was a bloody ugly game. No skill required, just kick it to a scrap of players and wait for the free-kick to be paid.

On the big stage the big boys play Jags. Opportunity missed, will take time. Maintaining faith.

Mitchell you animal, what a move by the hfc to get this beast. Unfortunately no support.

First quarters again destroy us. Lobb does to us what o’brien does to Melbourne. What a massive inclusion for them. First quarter match winner.

Lacked polish and class. GWS miles ahead in this area and the scoreboard flattered us. They responded each time we pushed and stood firm in defence.

Sicily regrettably poor.

Stratton so many uncharacteristic errors. Smashed many packs when he shouldn’t have.

The grind continues. Just desperately want to feature in an elimination final. Will mean so much for the playing group.

KOLOKOTRONIS

Terrible pedantic umpiring but not the reason for the loss.
Score board flattered us
How did the scoreboard flatter us? We were right on the game all along. It’s not like they missed easy shots. They were the better team tonight but we still had every chance of winning right up until the Glass dropped mark.

Sis missing the kick and Glass dropping the mark was when the game was truely put out of our reach. Nothing against them they both played fairly good games.

A couple of A grade midfielders during the trade period would be handy. So would Tom Lynch.
Apparently he's not interested in premierships...

Dropping marks to bring the ball to ground. I understand the basic premise, but who knew it wouldn't work in the back line?
