Hawthorn have "won" 11 wooden spoons. That's quiet a lot of Wooden Spoons. What an embarrassing club history they have.

They had more spoons than premierships up until 6 years ago. In comparison our last spoon was before they even won their first premiership

My god have they come a long way. The clubs founding fathers never lived to see a premiership at any level

With the way they are going after bottoming out & with the move to a rubbish dump :$ to cement Kennetts legacy :$ then they will be overtaking St Kildas spoon tally by 2040. :$

I’m 2004 we were cruising for the spoon, then Richmond came in and made a late play and basically came out of nowhere to snare it.

A few months later, they took their raft of high picks to the draft and missed out on all of Franklin, Roughead and Lewis.

True story.

Richmond are the epitome of fail. Only Freo do it better. Imagine that, not even as good as Freo at something. 🤣😂🤣

I don't know about that. Richmond embodied failure for three whole decades whereas Freo............................. yes you're right.

That's a lot of spoons down at Dingley. Might need them to dig the foundations of their new tip since no money is coming in from the pokies and pets don't have enough money to fill the void.

Tough times coming up again for Dingley Hawks.

From memory Jazny has followed Geelong, Carlton, Gold Coast, St. Kilda, Hawthorn and North. There is probably a few more.

That equates to 63 Wooden Spoons. Wow, just Wow

Looking back at it, it was a strange time.

Freo were badly run and were 8 million in debt in 2001.

In the NBA, If your a struggling side and a rich club offers you millions for a top 5 pick. In some cases you take the cash.

Again...... that was 20 years ago.

Why do you consider this embarrassing Jazny?

Its an undeniable part of the clubs history, contrasts quite nicely with the success from 1961 onwards.

I'd taunt you back regarding Norf but you'll probably switch teams soon so I wont bother :)

Hawks didnt make finals from 1925-1956. 31 years of no finals is crazy.

Saying that, it was a different finals system. 12 teams and only 4 finals spots, so it was common for some teams to have gone through 10-15 years in a row and no finals. So literally you had to be one of the best teams just to make it. Top 2 was double chance.

1972-1986 was slightly better. 5 teams to make finals out of 12. Still less than half. At least if you finish 5th, you play in an Elim final. Top 3 was double chance.

Me being a freo fan, I can not say much.

But with this current finals system. 8 finals spots and 18 teams. Only around 40 percent chance of making finals. No different to a 10 team comp with 4 finals spots. Basically, if you make finals every 2nd year or 50% of the time, your doing well.
