True...but it's not contradicting anything I said or believe.

Im on my phone and cant post properly so ill wait until im home...its just too easy to be misconstrued if I cant take the time to clarify

Channel 7 just reported 2 players and a Premiership star.. I'm confused

The club released a statement saying 1 non premiership player is being investigated and another player is helping with police equiries. Take their word for it over anyone in the media.

People flying off the handle for no
good reason, the whole story has just broken, no charges have been laid as yet and we have no idea of the true circumstances. I'm pretty confident our club will handle it well, we deal with adversity better than anyother footy club on this planet.

Imagine this happen a month back? If you can take a positive out of it, at least this crap has popped up 6 months before season 2016 which allows plenty of time for Essendon to take the headlines again.

Unfortunately or maybe for me, fortunately - I find no positives whatsoever with this incident

It depends what you mean, if you're talking about whether someone is actually innocent or guilty of committing a crime then of course any verdict or lack of doesn't change that.

But I'm inferring that you're more talking about the legal status and in that case you're wrong. I think you mentioned in another post that a court can't find someone innocent, well it's true but only in so much as the person is already deemed innocent in the eyes of the law, so a not guilty verdict just maintains that status quo, they don't have to find the person innocent because they already were, in fact they never weren't. We're all deemed to be innocent of everything until such a point that we're found guilty.

You may say it's semantics but many people, for many hundreds of years have deemed this to be an important, if not fundamental pillar of English Law and far preferable to the implications of living under legal systems based on Napoleonic Law.

Anyway hopefully not coming over as a smartarse because I enjoy your work but I do think it's quite an important point.

Your hired

I hope it's not true, but if indeed a Hawk or 2 have sexually assaulted somebody, I hope they cop the full force of the law, media, and from the club. Shocking.
With all due respect....it will be a legal process....the only part the media should have in any of this.....is to report the facts... .....nothing else.

Haha!! This is the football media we are talking about. In their own minds, whatever transpires in court will pale to insignificance in comparison with their own opinions. Reporting facts is something they did in the 1960s. Writing opinions is what they do now. You see, when you give an opinion, it doesn't matter if it's correct or not. Never be confused about the difference between real journalistic integrity and what is laughingly called "sports journalism".

Yep all good.

I was just warning against "trial by media".

I'm talking in football terms, which I should be allowed to do on a football forum.

Haha, that would be a first........perhaps if you weren't an obnoxious little twat who has no idea what he is talking about let alone football knowledge, that would be okay.

But, you are just an argumentative lightweight who paints himself into a corner time after time and is an embarrassment to his clan.

If you say so.

You're allowed to say what you like. Just a dick of a time to say it.

I wasn't arguing that I'm allowed to say what I like, I take that completely for granted. Speaking in football terms means I can discuss this issue as it relates to our football club rather than as a social issue, and yeah I should be allowed to do that as well.

What a waste of 300+ posts....
Social/criminal issue... May or may not have substance.... Will have victims.... Let's all just stfu and let time take its course...

Some of us feel kind of angry that this has happened right after one of the greatest/significant wins, and has the potential to darken it.

Absolutely #$%@ happens.... but this sort of thing is easily avoided, there is education aimed at helping young players avoid it.

It's an issue closely related to a club we hold dear. The players, particularly the Premiership players, are ones we have formed a close attachment to. I'm sure many of us will feel relief that it's not one of those blokes involved and it's quite unfair for you to suggest we can't or that it's inappropriate to show that emotional response.

Is empathy for the girl the only emotion we're allowed to show?
