It's no wonder someone would be reluctant to report an assault, after already having been through the trauma of it and then being able to expect some of these attitudes.

Rape is a subject and crime that is incredibly difficult to prove and as this thread has demonstrated comes with a lot of scrutiny of the victim. At this stage these are allegations, supposedly in a taxi this occurred so that puts a witness to this investigation. There's no point commenting about the victim or the perpetrators at this stage as the information available is about as detailed as a Michael Bay movies storyline.

The victim blaming is a big reason why many choose to stay silent, lets let the police deal with this and pass judgement once they have concluded their investigation.

Wait for confirmed details, if proven to be true it's adios for whoever it is. If bollocks, then we move on. Simple as that.

Is it that simple though? Once/if charged the player will be named and if he pleads not guilty then the club has to back him as in the case of Stephen Milne and Magak Daw, they don't really have a choice in that. In a court of law its innocent until proven guilty whether guilty or not and the club has to take the same approach. Trail by media usually goes the other way, guilty until proven innocent. Likely to be a very messy situation regardless of whats actually transpired.

Obviously I'm just a random Blues fan and not a Hawks moderator, but the stuff posted on twitter and facebook on news websites 1) hits a lot more people and 2) isn't moderated (i.e. the outrageous/sickening/defamatory posts here are deleted), so I imagine as long as opposition supporters keep their heads in check, nothing problematic will come
