The awarding of life membership has been delayed FFS, not denied.
Any normal person would recognize the delicate predicament the club is in - or at least keep their powder dry. But not Jeff.

$1.5M allowance in a turnover of $55M should hardly be headlines. Its about 3.6%.
Who else but an AFL club makes headlines for a 3.6% adjustment to their bottom line?

The reason why Kennett is still a live issue (and not something dead and buried as you'd like it to be) is precisely the reason why the current president and board have elected to defer his award as a life member. Perhaps there are issues relating to the racism controversy - that occurred under Kennett's presidency - that the current board are wanting to be resolved, before the club confers honours on Kennett.

I'm sorry but the "If you don't agree with my position then you have to leave" is dictator type behaviour. As pointed out previously a good Board should be allowed to have some tension and disagreement to ensure the best outcomes are achieved.

This has been pretty much left “off-Broadway”, but the rejection of the summary dismissal application made by 2 of the 3 coaching staff (Fagan is in the clear now) means the matter will continue because…. there’s a claim which deserves to be determined.

The application to dismiss was based on time passed since the alleged incidents occurred. That was dismissed (correctly I think as many abuse victims dont report things quickly), the finding doesn't mean anything in relation to the valdiidty of the claims.

Fagan isn't in the clear, his lawyers probably were just smarter and knew the application was pointless and looked a little desperate.

I believe it was more about the predictable corporate response from the AFL and our own short memories. It is ridiculous how long this matter has gone on.
