Wrong. Hawks did what they had to do by the rules of the AFL.
Correct. For reference below, once the HFC had the report outlining serious allegations they were duty bound by the AFL’s protocol to hand over the report to the AFL integrity unit.

I will pin this post, as it seems to be a constant query.

In terms of the life membership, would Jeff be entitled to it if he had not altered the constitution to allow himself an extra term on the board?

This is a very good point - oh the irony!

It was Kennett who pushed for the 2 term (8 year) presidency cap - that followed the challenge to Dicker’s presidency and the feared prospect of Dicker staying on indefinitely as Hawthorn president.

But then Kennett insisted he should come back in 2017 as president for another 5 years after serving his initial 2 terms !!!
Because, he said, there was no one else capable to run the club - and the weak as p*ss board agreed !!

And we know how that turned out (bye Cyril).

So Kennett‘s qualified for a 10 year service life membership.

I can understand why Gowers and other board members - who were personally and unjustifiably insulted by Trump (sorry, Kennett) and his mates in the run-up to the last election - are slightly reluctant to cover him in glory right now.
At least, not before the Club’s racism problems are finally sorted out.

That tweet is a dead-set lie. Gowers re-itterated several times, that 1.5 was put aside for legal costs, not settlements.

Isn‘t Gowers merely saying that the board has put aside $1.5 mill for legal costs (as you say) with an additional $1.5 mill to cover potential settlement claims? They’re 2 entirely separate matters.
That adds up to $3 million.

Where’s the “dead-set lie”?

Gowers did not say any money had been put aside for settlements. That has been made up.

Edit: The Annual Report shows Provisions under Current Liabilities had increased from $1.127m in 2022 to $2.709m in 2023.

When asked about the increase and whether it was for settlements, Gowers said no, it was for expected legal costs which are ongoing. He did not say anything else about money being put aside for settlements.

So he did not say, or indicate, what that tweet is saying he did. As it stands, it's a lie.

So $3 million before any possible settlements?

You are so wrong and one sided. Clearly you don't like Kennett. But at least get your facts right
Kennett did not insist that he come back his president.
The club pleaded for him to return as president because Newbold had gone and Richard Garvey had completely stuffed up the CEO appointment and staff at the club were threatening to leave and Clarkson was running his own race and trading out icons of the club for second raters.
The place needed a shake up and for someone to take control.
It was in this context that Kennett was lobbied to come back in
That's very witty comparing Kennett to Trump hahaha
But both sides spread their own versions " of the truth" in the election, And some in Nankivell's camp were also "personally and unjustifiably" insulted by Gowers camp.

Treating a former President like this is not a way to unify the club as has been demonstrated tonight.

This is false. Don Scott wasn't shut down. He got to ask several questions during the question time. More than any other person in attendance. And they continued to allow him to do so even though he was becoming increasingly belligerent with each one.

You're very naive.
The Kennett return in 2017 was heavily engineered. As was his first term when he took over from Dicker.
And when he did return in 2017 he insisted that all directors sign off on a pact that a director would immediately resign if Kennett told him or her to go! So much for responsible directors and a diverse board - but that's another story.

And as for the Trump / Kennett comparison, they have exactly the same Meyer Briggs personality indicators. Aside from the other similarities, they yearn for attention and the spotlight and making headlines and, of course, they're obsessed about power and control.

Thanks for the clarification. It would not have been a good look for a club to indicate to claimants that there's $1.5 million put aside to pay you if you elect to make a claim.

It says $3m, of which $1.5m was for potential payout / settlement.

That still leaves $1.5m there….for our legal costs.

Given the Bulldogs just got blindsided by the $6m compensation order from the Supreme Court for the sexual abuse of Adam Kneale by Graham Hobbs, it makes sense to set that coin aside in case it’s all required.

Of course, it's false.
Does anyone really think the overseas-owned newspaper would actually print something factually correct?
Is there any legal action pending?

Yes
There's a Human Rights Commision proceeding that's happening now.
An adverse finding from the HRC could trigger other claims or litigation.

Bank interests are high at the moment. Can just let it accumulate $'s in the meantime.

This place was about to spiral into meltdown because of an anonymous tweeter falsely reporting that Gowers had said the club had a settlement fund. Plenty of people are going to take what's reported in the Sun on face value.
