I reckon it will be a 3 way rivalry over the next 3 years between hawks cats and bulldogs. sort of similar to the port collingwood brisbane rivalry between 2002-2004 (although collingwood dropped off in 04)

The Dawks won't for sure. The Dawks are last for Contested ball and hard ball gets. LOL. Soft. They actually play 'sociable and east footy'.

Cats vs Dogs / Swannies. GF.

Crows and Dawks are a long way off it.

Cats will beat the Dawks by 60+ in round 17. Dawks are pretenders.

The question is will the Dawks go out in straight sets. I fear they will. lol.

Whilst Sydney have more traditional rivals going back >100yrs, we need to flow with the times....you just dont get many pure football rivalries coming close to what we have seen from SYD/WCE games. Most of our clubs have had the tribal rivalries which can start from something as simple as gambling, proximity or even religion...but in footy terms it doesnt get much better than this....

WLWLWLWLWLWL...12 games over 5 yrs.
The last 5 games of the sequence 4pts, 4pts, 2pts, 1pt, 1pt.
5 Finals, 1 flag apiece. 4 Brownlow's won between them in that time.
2 of the most memorable hard fought Grand finals played. Fantastic tough hard contested footy giving fans of other clubs the close hard fought GF's we all want and can yell our guts out over.

Even last week we saw it again...doesnt matter where they are on the ladder you have no idea what will happen.

This was a great win for Hawthorn as a club...away against a bogey side is about as good as u get to yell about. You dont ASK for rivalries to happen though...they're either old traditional rivals or new ones evolving...needs to be based on something though.

When Hawthorn fans feel that combination of hate, apprehension, cockiness and respect that u cant admit to...THEN they can feel an Adelaide is a new rival. Hopefully it will happen coz new rivalries are fantastic to see.

2 hrs of cardiac arrest...just when u think u;ve got the bastards they come back at you...every damn time...game after game.

great matches, even when we won by 44 pts early in the year, there was real bite between the players. High intensity in our last 3 matches. May just play in another final this year.

It is going to become one hell of a rivalry

I certainly think a healthy rivalry is developing....have had some great games recently for sure.

I know from our side we look forward to the Hawk clashes and everyone seems to be just that little more geed up for it.

It isnt up there in rivalry like the Swans and Eagles though.

But whose to say it wont get there....I hope it does.

At the moment though there is a genuine respect between the 2 clubs and both camps look forward to the clashes.

p.s. great win last night by your boys

Every club Franklin plays will be a blockbuster.

It is a wonder he even plays so well; considering the Hawks are last in hard ball gets and contested footy. Imagine if they were truly a physical side, who likes the hard stuff. Scary.

Franklin is a gun, who plays in a team that is last for hard ball gets and contested football.

Buddy would be even better if the Hawks were not so soft.

Richmond supporters...lol. 3 wins for the season and no orgasm for 28 years.

I'd nominate Brisbane v Port Adelaide as another that ranks above .. ahem .. Adelaide v Hawthorn.

In 22 games, 9 games decided by 10pts or less.
2 x draws
1 x 1-pt game
2 x 2-pt games
2 x 6 pt games
1 x 7-pt game
1 x 10-pt game

Overall
10 wins each, 2 draws.
Port have won 4 at the Gabba, Brisbane have won 4 at AAMI.
3 Finals - Brisbane knocked Port out in 2001-2, Port won the GF in 2004.

If only we didn't throw away chances to play them in 2002-3 GF's , it could have been even better.
