Interesting game to tip this one. Lappin is now ruled out for the Lions side, with both sides playing a lot of first year players. Who do you think will win? I'm tipping Lions, but am not so sure...

hawthorn. geez i wish i meant that. Hawthorn have been thrashed by them for years, as have a few clubs, but still i can't see us winning. but on the positive side brown and lynch aren't playing, either voss or lapin. And with hay and croad should be able to match their forwards. But they still have enough talent everywhere to win... i think franklin and roughead need to do something special but that's way too much to ask so early.... but i'll ask them anyway

This isn't exactly the biggest thread to bag in more opinions.

Im confident we'll give a good account, not so confident (actually, not at all) that we'll win.

They are down a LOT of manpower. We aren't missing to many at all (Lekkas, Dixon.. maybe Jacobs *actually started to show something approaching halfway decent form lately*).

But we're still going in very raw up forward and lets face it, there defence is still looking pretty much full strength.

If we can win the majority of ball out of the centre, go direct from the start (instead of trying to play a loose man down back/flood if you want to call it that) and maybe back ourselves and get some confidence early?? Well..

Let's just say this time last year I would of gone in hoping that a ten goal loss wasn't about to happen. This time, I'm actually harbouring at least a faint hope that maybe.. just maybe..

And for the now, that's a helluva improvement on no hope, believe me.

Brisbane are vulnerable on the road early in the season, they have been known to drop some shockers in the past. If Brisbane had won I would have given the hawks a chance to sneak up on them and get over the line but after losing last week when they were a mile ahead I think lethal will want to see them play out four quarters which will make it tough on the hawks.

Who is picking Hawthorn, and why? I just can't see them doing it. Sure, they pushed Richmond and Essendon and probably could've won both games, but I daresay Brissie up in the tropics is a rather different matter. Every single hawks player would need to lift a notch or two to even make it a close one.

Yea that might be the case only.. unless your idea of the MCG is 'up in the tropics' or there's been a REAL LATE switch of venue (in which case I better leave now, it'd be a helluva drive to make it on time) I'd say playing at home might give us faint cause for some hope. ;)

they still maybe playing a lot of youngesters and duds but they have more brownlow medalists, AA running around in their team than you've had for the last decade.

however Franklin and roughhead do look good.

possible wins against Carlton, collingwood, dogs, tigers (with normal richo playing)

Arrggghhh!!! I knew Lions wouldn't win, but I wasn't game enough to go the hawks.

All conquering Essendon will smash us though, given the massive improvement that they'll show as the season progresses.
