Compare that to the state of origin...

Classy AFL, classy !!!
That's a petty point, raised by the Herald Sun also that I think isn't necessary.

You can't compare the two events and there connections to the respective crowds, (which where both Melbourne crowds by the way)

There is a time and place for code wars and this isn't it

Also not sure whether it should happen in the other games, wouldn't be adverse if it does but it takes away from this moment. Up to the players
Nah, nothing will take anything away from this moment. Various reasons, it was the day it happened, Phil played for Collingwood, it was a very tough, close fought game, and I can tell you, (I was there) it was just an atmosphere of respect all night. It was special, and beautiful. From the minutes silence, to this ending.

I get so fed up with lack of respect these days, and this was a perfect night.

Can't you just acknowledge a beautiful moment and move on?

The question was if the rest of the games this round should do it.

I'm in the camp that says the spontaneity of the Friday night clash was all thats required.

But if other teams feel they need to honour him with a solidarity circle I wouldn't think it in poor taste or anything. Just think its been done and done in the best most visible way it could be during last nights clash.

That image of respect will remain with me for a very long time...I shed a divided tear of both sadness at the Walsh family's loss, and pride in the sport that has us all obsessed..
Both clubs were so genuine.

It also highlighted that the decision for the rest of the games to go ahead was the right one. It produced not only a fantastic game played in one of the best spirits I've seen a game played in but an amazing moment post match. What a great way to pay tribute to a man who gave so much to the sport.

Was a truly genuine moment of respect.

Professional sport often pays its respects. Rarely is it more genuine and heartfelt.
Spot on.

As a big burly bloke who loves his footy - I need to get back to watching footy without the tears !! I cannot even think how the next AFC game is gonna pan out ... if I get emotional when other teams show their respect, what the hell is it going to be like when I see my team front up?

It has struck a lot of AFC supporters how invested we are in our footy. 99% of us didn't meet Phil - or know him in any way outside of what we saw through the media ... but we all felt like he was one of us - the leader of our men - we all had a connection with him. It is really only now that we are realising what a strong connection that was.

Thanks again to all the supporters that are standing side-by-side with AFC, don't under-estimate the bonds that are forged in adversity. I reckon you will see a different approach towards each other after all of this - sure we bicker and all that, but there is respect being shown and you should all know it is being taken to heart. Good stuff often comes from the worst stuff.

Very powerful moving gesture from both clubs last night.

When I saw both coaches and teams milling around after the game I thought something was up, at first I thought the teams were just going to walk off together which would have been a pretty good gesture by itself but then to see both teams link arms in a circle in a minutes silence it just took it to another level.

Will no doubt become an iconic gesture like the Nicky Winmar gesture has become.

Was a horrible horrible day, but I managed to keep my composure throughout it, even in the initial shock of seeing "Phil Walsh murdered" when I clicked into BF. But that moment took my breath away there.

That image will be a part of AFL history forever. We'll be seeing that every now and then as long as we watch football.
