Bruce Abernethy all but confirmed that Mark Haysman is gone from Port. Will finish up in two weeks according to Abba. Bruce is a Board member so I doubt he would run the story without a bit of inside knowledge.

Re: Haysman Bruised

Here comes the angry mob.

Re: Haysman Bruised

what level is the official - what's their name??

Both Haysman and Duncanson have said at different meetings over the last 16 months I have attended, that they spend way too much time together and their wife's have asked questions - all said in a good natured way.

So it's either bullshit, or a recent fallout! I put my money on bullshit.

Came from a current board member.
Haysman's gone, either tomorrow or very soon. Either way he won't be at Port next year.
The hate each other's guts - they've had boardroom walk outs etc etc..sorry state of affairs.

Never really trusted him anyway. Not overly keen on the Prez either.
Massive overhaul needed.

Re: Haysman Bruised

By nature of the job they have to spend a lot of time together.
But doesn't mean they like / liked eachoher.

Re: Haysman Bruised

Would be disappointing if true given Haysie's comments at the member's night

He didn't sound like a man who was going anywhere in a hurry, did he. On the other hand though, when asked about all the speculation he simply said "i'm still here" without actually saying "i'm staying and have no intention on leaving", choosing his words carefully.

Not sure why you would say you never trusted him, can't say I have seen any evidence of him doing anything other than working extremely hard to improve the club.

I did notice at the Members night, that he stopped short of saying that he wasn't going anywhere. Anyway, imo he has been great for the club and has achieved some great things for us, very sorry to see him go (if that's the case) :(

Re: Haysman Bruised

This is getting seriously ****ed. If this is true, and if it plays out as Rucci mentioned a week or two ago (ie, The SANFL put Norwood's Keith Thomas into the job) then i really don't know how long i can last. The idea of our club being essentially handed over to them kinda makes me feel like vomiting.

I'll just take the view I always have when outsiders come to our club. Eventually the club absorbs them and they become one of us. We're like a giant black and white Venus Fly Trap.

Be it administrators like Bob McLean, coaches like Fos Williams or players like Russell Johnston, they become Port people.

I still remember when Haysman was appointed. Bay man, crows supporter was frequently heard. Now people would throw themselves into the volcano over his departure.

I hear what you're saying and i agree. But if this happens and the new CEO is an SANFL appointee, ala Rucci's Keith Thomas scenario, brought in to "take out the trash", it would be an entirely different situation to all those before it.

Re: Haysman Bruised

Quicker was on MMM said the SANFL had nothing to do with that side of thing listen to the podcast. Not sure I believe him though

Re: Haysman Bruised

But what do you do? Quit the club? I just couldn't do that.

It would be unpalatabe but I would hope we turn him, he does a good job and doesn't mess with the essence of Port Adelaide. Just like John Irving the independent SANFL forensic accountant.

I have a feeling that Haysman was considered a Sturt supporter at the time he joined the club?

Re Keith Thomas - if he does get the job - I'm not saying that he'd be doing it for the love of, or concern for, the club (at least not initially), but an interesting side note, is that I think he barracked for Port as a kid.

That rings a bell. I think Cornesy adopted him because his old man was a Glenelg stalwart. I am remembering back to his first interview on AA which is a stretch. ;)

Will not believe until official.

After the initial shock i felt tonight when i first read it i've now calmed and thinking a little more rationally. You'd have thought if true Haysie might have brought this up last night amongst "friends".

There's clearly a group of people who want him gone. We know that. Perhaps there's a seperation offer on the table and he's yet to decide. We'll find out soon enough.

But, why? What is it about our situation where as part of the AFL funding or AO deal comes with an agreement for our CEO to leave? What has/hasn't Haysman done? REH has had face-to-face meetings with him. Have others here had any of these meetings? What are we missing here? What don't we know?

Are there issues we, as "normal" supporters, haven't been made aware of? From the outside, during Haysman's time, haven't we made positive steps financially? Haven't we "grown the pie"?

I just don't get it.
