Heath Black - Freo's Best Weapon

I am an unashamed biased Heath Black fan. Tonight he had 20 kicks and 15 hit a Freo target. Most of these kicks were 40+m. He has played an absolutely sensational last 10 weeks and is right on top of his game.

You won't hear the coaching staff rave on about him, but he is rated very highly. I believe he is our most dangerous weapon on the field.

Sandilands is the key IMO... he smashed White last night. In the odd occasion White got a tap, Sandilands ended up playing a part in a Dockers clearance.

Black's depth and flatness of kicking puts a lot of defenders under pressure - it comes in so fast

Whenever freo brought the ball back into the centre, he was nearly always the one to receive it and pump it long inside 50

He was out for 4 weeks with the "jaw that broke itself behind play even though Mark Seaby was standing right near him at the time" - rounds 7,8,9,10. Surprise, suprise we were CRAP during that time and won only one game in that period.


But yes, I agree FFC_VIC, Blackie was sensational last night. His long pin-point accurate kicks are a joy to behold. He also played on Pickett and kept him quiet. No easy job.

He was an absolute gun at St. Kilda and a big part of the reason we won 10 in a row in 2004. He is a pacy, long kicking midfielder who can run and carry to great effect.

He is most damaging on the wing and I reckon he had 5-6 Inside 50's for Fremantle last night, three of which resulted in goals.

A brilliant player and was never replaced at the Saints.

He was fantastic for them.He will definitely cop a game long tag on Friday.
Maybe Ben Mathews or even Schneider who did OK on Wirra by kicking 2 goals.

At the time he was traded back to the Dockers I thought the saints had made a huge mistake. He left a hole that they haven't been able to fill, their midfield is pedestrian. He is a very dangerous player. A good proportion of his possessions lead to scoring opportunities
