L/G make a granny with a couple of keys missing the back end of the year after heading overseas. Get them back, and add a few more in, I think they’ll be very much at the pointy end. They have a good crop of local talent.

I know Kay was approaching some Rochy blokes but you reckon the club might seriously look at extracting a few of Echuca's twos players. Watched them twice in finals and many would play seniors at other GVFL clubs. Not sure who the powerbrokers are at Elmore or how much $$$ they have.
Yep elmore seem to pick good recruits but they haven't clicked for a long time. I'd be after 10 echuca twos and thirds guys offering good coin and hope they stay 3 years. The echuca guy who won the league medal, would be starting midfielder for any other gv team

What’s the consensus on Fiske as a coach?
Going back a bit. But I thought he was good when he first got the gig at Huntly. Took them to their first ever grand final in the HDFL (could be wrong). Not a bad effort and probably unlucky to catch Locky in their run of four.
But early days he did a good job and turned them around, as they were a basket case for a long time.

Only the 1 year at Lockington probably says enough to suggest it wasn’t a good fit for either party.

Did 2 years at Locky I reckon. He’s an interesting dude from what I’m told. Got the best out of that Huntly group that he took to the gf amd then was big enough to stand up and take the job on again when they were battling after.

I respect him putting his hand up when needed

He was also a very good player when he coached huntly. He's at the end of he's career now, and I get the feeling he's more of a lead by example coach. Locky would have also known what they were getting, he'd played in the league for a while

He was a great defensive technician when at Huntly, in his last year with them his team held higher teams to some low scores and had a few of them on toast at 3/4 time. Problem was they had no forward potency to kick a winning score. Whether this was due to the defensive mindset, complex game style or lack of players we'll never know. Highly revered at Huntly.

Well said Roota. I reckon he is a pretty decent coach. Probably not the best timing to take over an ageing Lockinton list that had already had plenty of success.
Hopefully he continues to coach in the near future. Two years coaching a side is just about the norm these days as crazy as it sounds.

From a few reports I have heard, he brought in a level of professionalism at the Hawks that ruffled a few feathers early, and a few locals didn't like working for their spot. But it obviously worked in the long run as he left the place in better shape then he found it.

I thought he may have bobbed up at Marong. He is a teacher at Maiden Gully Primary. MGYCW should be in early talks to get him there next year and give him 12 moths to find players.
