No News is good for who?

Dont keep it to yourself peoples - what happened at the BFC AGM tonight...Its been so heavily promoted, I feel like we have missed something :confused:

Broady have gone! Centralvic Footy reports that as little as 4 votes in favour of the RDFL seperated the room after 80 people voted. Sad day for HDFL......The end of an era!

And I think that little Wokky might have been voted in as President! Still might be a couple of hurdles to get over for them to go. Time will tell.

RWB, just thought I'd let you know, I was at work yesterday when I got a call down to the doctors surgey in Heathcote, to what sounded like a murder in progress. When I got there I found Forrest's brother, Bi there! He was in the dentist's chair screaming like he'd had a leg chopped off. As it turned out he was only getting his teeth whitened and was crying because the dentist didn't give him an injection for the pain first. I am a bit concerned about him, has he been alright lately????:rolleyes:

Welcome back Hill CHUNDER Bully i see the back door of the waggon is just starting to rust??!!Please Explain!!:D

I don't think its a done deal on the Broady thing (I hope not). I wish i could have voted cos i would have picked to stay but due to working away from home i unfortunately couldn't get my vote in.

Looks like it didn't matter anyhow. Bit disappointed as a player would love to have stayed. The travel sucks but shit happens. I guess the only positive that could come out of this is the return of the mighty Broady thirds.

Geez was only a few votes in it too GoalSneak07, a proxy here or there coulda swung it!!! What's done is done, the new committee's first item now is to see this transition thru, emotions and opinions get put aside and they'll work in the best interest of the motion that was voted in (RDFL) by the majority of BFNC members.

End of an era indeed, but with 2009 being the 25 year anniversary of Senior & Reserves RDFL flags, a new alternate clash strip and a new found enthusiasm by all the young people that pushed hard for the move who must now stand up to make this work - there's plenty to get excited about regardless of what individual thoughts are.

Gotta say how good it was to see a born and bred local (former 3rds captain) lad hold up the VFL cup last night - there has been a heap of players go thru the Broadford system with far more ability etc than Shaune Moloney, but full credit to our great mate who got to the best level he could thru shear guts & hard work and a determination to be the best he could.

Good on Spider and Go Roosters!!!

Sounds like the wheel has turned Doona and the cold hard light of day has arrived and you are at terms with the world, I hope this is so.
You still have lots to offer the club and hope you are going to hang around ( if not coaching ) to do so.
Is Scotty the new president if this is imo a great thing for the club going forward.
Good luck to the roo's and also to you Doona and a big:thumbsu:up for your time in the HDFL well done:thumbsu::)

Ha ha phanto was always on terms but was at a loss to the poor way all this had been handled - I never even voted Wednesday night and was gunna support either outcome regardless of if I was to be coaching or not.

Can confrim Scott is the new pres, and had a few beers with him last night at the footy and it seems they've achieved a fair bit in the space of 3-4 days already.

The Lancefield Football/Netball Club is a close knit family club affiliated in the Riddell District Football League. Having just missed out on finals in 2008 we are looking to take the next step in 2009, and are well set up both on and off the field to do so.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for season 2009 in the following positions:

* Senior Coach
* Reserves Coach
* Under 18's Coach

Anybody with interest PM me for more details, or email the club at info@lancefieldfc.org.au

Will be interesting to see which way the HDFL go with the fixture.

Could be a good opportunity to just have the 14 league games per season. Perhaps a week off after round 4, inter-league after round 8 and another week off after round 12, then have a fortnight of games to ready up for finals footy. If there was no inter-league, you could just have a week off after round 5, another after round 10 and then have the final four rounds and then finals.

Then the season still goes for around the same length as it does now.

Would make it uneven if you had to play certain clubs 3 times for the year.

Would also be a good chance for clubs to have a week or three off to allow grounds to recover, and for players/coaches/supporters etc to have a few breaks during the season.

I think we are quite happy where we are right now, but you could sound out Ardmona and see if they are interested.
Think that Ardy would be glad to see the back of you blokes! Actually, that's probably all they have seen for the last few years! :D Don't particularly care which club it is, but you would think that there would be some serious ramifications in regards to attracting good players, retaining good players etc. etc. in an eight club comp. Be the way, the last time we had eight clubs we played 18 rounds I think so it was a case of fronting up 3 times to certain sides.

maybe in the long term the LVFL and the HDFL might merge.if this was to happen there would be a 17 side competition, but i would have thought that 17 teanms would be to many.but as i said, dowm the track this could be an option.

Ump, they weren't that flash in the years before they left. You mustn't have been going to the footy then. We need someone in, eight sides isn't going to cut it.

I was playing in the 2's in 81 Stanhope beat us that year in the granny.The late great Ian Perry was coach, If your memory is up to it you might had just left Tooby state school were he was teaching

Talking of great footballers can you name your best 3 footballers of the 80's 90's and today at your club:thumbsu:

Grade six in that year Umpire and my teacher was June Gleeson!! Ian Perry was in at Heathcote by then.

I'll have a couple of goes at this: Spud Reid in the eighties with an honourable mention to Winny Ferguson (absolutely destroyed Bones Magennis with five goals in the intra club before the eighty nine grand final and cost Bones his spot!) , Shane Kent in the nineties and Luke Stratford present day.

Glen Hopkins/Wayne Bell/Craig Mansbridge in the eighties, with an honourable mention to Phil Pickering, Brown Dog and Lozza Conforti.
Mark Shaw/Darren Rowsell/Shane Jackson in the nineties with apologies to the Hornet, Daryl Gilmore and Rob (Jacko) Thomas.
Matt Waters I would rate right up there with quite a few right on his hammer like Tom Tobin, Thompo, Morgan when he's up and running, Big Al, Jon Jess and all of the local young blokes will be great players soon. Dan O'Bree was a fair footballer for his size, would have loved him at Heathcote ten years ago. Interesting topic Ump.:thumbsu:

I'll have a crack at Mount Pleasant, although I apologize in advance if I missed anyone in the 80's - was quite young then & recognized players by numbers rather than names!

80's: Greg O'Brien, Bill Whatley, Mark Cairns
90's: The late, great Peter White, John Craig, Matt Beddoe. (In such a dominant period for Mounts though, there are many special mentions; Dougal Aitken, Paul Nihill, Justin & Jamie Gee, Brian Dorrington & Kevin Tuohey:D to name a few)
00's: Frank Bourke, Keiran O'Shannessy, Matt Pascoe (again special mentions to the likes of Justin & Jamie Gee, Dennis Ryan, Trevor Douglas)

I tell you what it's an extremely tough challenge to narrow these lists down to 3!!! I wish I could've had all the guys I mentioned here in plus more!
