I will point out that the same ranking system places Dayne Zorko ahead of Luke Parker, Joel Selwood, Callan Ward, Lance Franklin & Chad Wingard.

The difference is Zorko is a midfielder playing in a shit team so his stats will naturally be pumped up because he gets the ball more than the others in a more balanced team.

That doesn't happen with key forwards, who rely on midfield delivery.

Why is it that when Cameron drops into defence people don't accuse him of padding his stats? What about Walker playing up the ground?

I don't think Westhoff is the best forward in the competition. Hell I don't even think he's in the top ten. But he IS elite compared to some of the spuds on playing lists. Just because he's not a traditional key forward doesn't mean he's not one.

Everyone ignores the extra shit that Hoff does. It's unbeliveable that he doesn't have legendary status in this team!

The extra shit doesn't matter, he is broken. Has as much chance of playing in a premiership as Chaplin. He actively avoids getting involved in any important plays because he's scared of stuffing up.
Say whaaaat?
No one is moved around like him, no one plays as many roles as him and for a long time when the data was available, very few had his work rate.
He doesn't get to do the cool end thing because he is doing so much else.

He may be broken, but that is because he has been abused (in footy terms) for so long.

As for playing in a premiership team, he is the exact type of player you need, he may just age out though.

it wouldn't surprise me if Westhoff plays until he's about 35. He's got that thin, wiry body type that never gets injured and doesn't seem to age like the rest of us

Yeah he could easily break our AFL games record, possibly smash it. I wouldn't be surprised if he clocked 350.

203 now. 22 H&A games a year means just under 7 more years. 6 if we play 3 finals a year.

Here's an interesting factoid for you: The Western Bulldogs scored 15.5% of their points from defensive 50 (14th), 21.2% of their points from defensive midfield (9th), 27.6% of their points from their press (attacking midfield) (16th) and 19.5% of their points from forward 50 (6th). The only place they were the best at generating score from? Centre bounce with 16.1% (1st).

Compare that to Port - 15.3% of points from defensive 50 (15th), 23.4% from defensive midfield (3rd), 32.7% from attacking midfield (4th) and 17.7% of points from forward 50 (10th). Our centre bounce, where we had no recognized ruck? 10.9% (13th).

No wonder Ken was so upbeat about having Paddy back when he spoke at the agm.
Is a rookie like Ladhams at 203cm a smokey to really deliver this year? Apparently his athleticism is top end.

That is an interesting stat. Tells you how good their midfield is, given they also have no ruck.

Also - could work on that forward pressure boys.

Champion Data rates him quite a bit. An elite hitout and hitout-to-advantage player, ranking second in both SANFL under-18 level and in the NAB under-18 championships in both categories. He also ranked elite in both competitions for disposals and ranking in the top 10% for clearances.

Of course, they said 'not in 2017 though'.

This is why I want Monfries back in the side. His forward pressure is elite. Or we can play Boak at HFF again (without the driver strain this time). Young is great in a pocket, but he's a poacher and not really suited to the defensive forward role.

In r1 against the saints Wingard had 9 tackles, and only had another 30 odd for the season. R1 needs to be his level, in terms of effort anyway.

Those stats suggest the bulldogs had no right to get even close to winning the flag. Boy I hated watching their ultra defensive football last year. Bloody media over looked it because of the hustle around the ball.

Boxx iirc spoke highly of him a week or so back. Said he was clunking marks at training showed good mobility and had a solid kicking action.
I'm an incurable optimist when it comes to our draftees and rookies. Lienert has me interested, great size 193cm and friends
who are Sturt members reckon he's got the goods. I'm very upbeat re the Maggies this year.

This will amuse you then: Opposition scores against the Bulldogs - from defensive 50, 19.2% (15th). From defensive midfield, 24.6% (16th). From centre bounce, 12.4% (10th). From attacking midfield, 29.4% (6th). From forward 50, 2nd (14.4%).

Conversely, Port Adelaide were 5th at defending points generated from defensive 50 with 16.6%, 4th from defensive midfield (19.5%), 2nd from centre bounce (10.7%), 16th from attacking midfield (35.2%) and 11th from forward 50 (18.2%).

They've loved him forever too

Ranked a top 25 prospect in their 2016 prospectus
