My backline doing ok atm (last week avg. 112pts) My worst performer & 7th backman is Waite so far.
Not sure if it's a good thing that your 7th backman is worth over $420k.
In saying that though my forward line is in all sorts of trouble
With a bit of luck (form & inj. wise) I might not have to do much at all with my backs

All these guns dropping in price has me licking my lips...but im not going to be hasty, was going to trade Fev out 5min before the lockout, then sat on my hands. Worked out nicely. Altho A.Edwards wasnt so lucky.(SC dud)
Need to upgrade proud as my 7th back ASAP. Come on cash cows make me some moneyyyyyyyyyy.
Yeh, I'm ranked 20,000
but I expect to move up when a few guns drop and I get them especially as I have $1.35M 
plus cash cows (hill, tuck, gamble, rioli, houli, brown,bird), will play one short this week unless gamble/reid get a game..have dilemma with s.thompson, as I see sinclair, jw smith, watt and hansen before s.thomo getting a game...farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrk)Will have heavy trading in next month (8 trades)..as I'm sick of playing short.. hopefully make top 5,000, but abit behind the 8 ball.
I was telling some dude to keep fevola..he will come good..once judd and stevens get used to playing with the team..

I scored 1924 with cox as my captain instead of cornes! D'oh!
My team currently is -
Backs - Cornes, Mattner, Newman, Jones, Bradshaw, Gram, Lower
Emerg - Thompson, Hansen
Midfield - Corey, Cross, Ling, Stevens, Gibbs, Palmer
Emerg - houli, Bird
Rucks - Cox, Gilmore
Emerg - Kruezer, Meeson
Forwards - Brown, Johnson, Pavlich, Hill, Porps, Burton, Richo
Emerg - Gamble, Trippet
I have used 4 trades so far and have $47,300 left in the kitty.
Need some advice on some decent trades to try and improve 7th defender, gibbs and richo who I think are my weak links.

I doubt very much Hill will reach 400K. I think he will be lucky to reach 350K
Wait, didn't you say he'll be lucky to average 50? 2 more games doing what he's doing, and it will be near impossible for him to miss 400..
So, what's people's take on Dal from this week? He's prolly gunna cop the Cling tag.
So, pencilling in him getting smashed (So I'm a little hopeful), and getting a 70.
That means that following that up with a respectable 110, we could see him sitting on 515,900.00 in round 5. (With a weeks grace before his price starts pumping up...)
Having said that, Kornesy will be sitting on the same(ish) price in round 5 if he can muster up a pair of 120's over the next two weeks...
Definitely some tasty tasty upgrade posibilities in there...

Troy Simmonds cash cow?
If kruzer keeps performing (i know very early to say!!) will we be better off to downgrade Simmonds to maybe a meeson or other cheepy?

ADVICE PLEASE
I have B.Johnson who after reading a few post has had 3 bad games (as his first game was 182 but 100 of those pts was in last 6mins of game).
R4.B.Johnno for O'KEEFE or CHAPMAN
R9. Cashcow Rookie for B.Johnno at say 400k is my guess..
Thing bad is if johhno scores back to back 130sc pts and loses 30k.i'd be annoyed i wasted the trade. Problem is Johnno scored low against melb too..

I have been toying with that idea.
Walsey will say no, I say maybe.
I don't have Kreuzer, I made the stupid mistake of getting Meeson and he hack doesn't look like getting a game. If Kreuzer fires again I will seriously consider him.
However the big problem is trades.
Right now I have my eye on Browny, BJ, Dalsanto and Kornes. I also want to get Chappy in sooner rather than later and to top it all off neither of my back cash cows (Thompson and Edwards) are playing and don't look like getting a game anytime soon.
*sigh*
A few early mistakes are coming back to bite me on the ass.

Kruezer won't be a starter.
Simmonds *might* get close maybe...
however, I believe that both will need to be upgraded...

Trading a player out and then trading him back in is a waste of 2 trades. You're looking at saving maybe 100k at best, I very much doubt BJ will drop to 400k and if he does it means he's continued to score poorly and won't be worth picking up.

But as you say, the problem is trades... sureing up emergencies and playing around with "ruck cash cows"... (whatever they are
), should be low priority on the trade schedule in my opinion... (Having said that, 0's do suck... )That crazy balancing act that is SC...
why not have both kruzer and simmo for now...i'd rather use kruzer as cashcow .having said that..i dont have kruzer in my team..problem with using rucks as cash cow is that less player are in that positions to upgrade.hence i am reluctant to use rucks as cash cows..as u have to downgrade then to a trade at another position..whereas if your cash cow is in another position.you just upgrade..for example..i'll get rid of hill in say round 11 to say lucas...they should be even in part in price (being optimistic here)..BUT IT IS ONLY 1 TRADE..
i have cox, mcintosh, simmo and leunberger.and plan just to leave them there..

Carlton will be throwing Kreuzer to the wolves and he will get game time. Kid looks like he can play. If anything he will score more than Simmonds (maybe?!) and you can save $150 by getting him next week.
Now THAT is a ruck division you can cash in on!
wait til simmonds peaks, then trade him out for a rookie. The burger can be more than enough of a backup.

But Kruezer, it's *way* to early to be planning to bring him in... I mean seriously, he's a boy playing in a "big man" position. he's only going to get sorer as the year goes on.
though his first game was pretty good... I can definitely see him becoming a shoe-in for DT teams in the future.

Considering that I don't ever plan to trade my benched rucks in, I'm happy for them to score zeros...
(So long as they don't do that while cox is out...)

My strategy is abit different (that is why I'm abit behind in the 8 ball)..lol
I plan to have some decent players on my bench at near the end of my trading as I plan to do hard trading (ie j.brown, riewoldt, k.cornes, dal santo - like everyone) and leave 4 trades for long term injuries. That is, I'm going to have Nicoski (b), Dyson (m) Simmo (r), N.thomo (f) as emergency and probably a decent rookie...by the end of my 16 trades..touch wood that I can make it happen.
Not sure if that's just wasting too much on the bench..sigh

I guess that's the thing, at the business end of things, you will want *something* on your bench, just in case... however, I have a feeling that my cash cows that I pick up along the way will be sufficient to replace any short term injuries without needing to blow cash on it at the start.
And nope... no trouble... you just have to wait sometimes.
