yeh but the question is do u plan to use n.brown as a keeper or not..if as a keeper..price rise don't matter..

for me....N.brown for me is to have a cheaper emergency (but that's becuase I have hacks like n.thomo and proud and nicoski..which i plan to upgrade all)...

having said that..H.taylor is pretty tempting..

let's see what others say..LOL

My backline is stacked and fingers crossed will need no upgrades, assuming Bowden comes back if he's dropped this week and rips it up.

Cornes, Bowden, Shaw, Milburn, Gilbee, Mattner, Bradshaw with Thompson and Edwards on the pine. Brown/Taylor is a cash cow come emergency. I guess I just need to bite the bullet and pick up Brown. **** I should have done it last week but never expected Bowden to get dropped.

Our backlines are near identical, mine:
Cornes, Bowden, Shaw, Milburn, Gilbee, Mattner, Proud, Thompson, Hansen.

What really annoys me with Bowden, is that preseason I thought his value would drop a bit to start the year, but I picked him because I was fairly sure he would play 22 games for the year!!

In reality, you just want to pick up the guy who will score the most this week.

Let's be fair, no-one really knows how many games these 'rookies' wll play, and so the whole cash cow thing becomes a bt murky.

So, all you really want is a score this week to replace a zero. (Assuming Bowden comes back of course!)

I'm playing emergency free in the backline (Thompson and Proud), so I may be in the same situation some time in the future...
...I guess you have to weigh up whether a trade is worth 40-60 points?

Disagree. I'm doing a sideways to ensure a non-zero score this week and pick up a cash cow. Thompson won't get another game unless the kangaroos get bum r*ped by injuries. Edwards doesn't fill me with hope and my ruck rookies are useless being Hampson and Meeson. Hence I need another cash cow.

Just looking at the Geelong team I don't know how Mackie is going come back in without Taylor getting dropped. Its almost a certainty he gets dropped next week. However if he can play 2 or 3 more games I'm laughing.

My problem with Brown is that I've missed out on his 58k rise. Hence I'm not only paying 58k more but I've lost out on the 58k, hence a net 'loss' of 116k.

Taylor on the other hand is still cheap and will make atleast 70k. Hence net profit to me by getting Taylor is the 58k I save plus his 70k rise. Thats a net 'gain' of 128k compared to Brown.

That's some dodgy reasoning.

If Taylor is dropped next week you've wasted a trade for ~70k.

Haven;t u just answered your own questions then :D

Brown will get more money and play more then Taylor

My last 3 defemders are Nicoski (on the field) and Edwards, Proud (bench).

With 1 trade and only 20k in the kitty left I see my options as being
1. Trade Nicoski for Barlow
2. Leave Nicoski on the field and trade Edwards for S. Selwood in case Nicoski doesn't play

What do you guys think would be the better option.

I hav pfieffer, thompson, and proud.........i wish i ditched thomo 4 brown last week! i want 2 get top 100 overall, but this week i may be playing with a 0, coz im gonna stay out of the trap of taylor getting dropped (and havnt got the doe 4 brown, deffinatly not using 2 trades 2 pick up brown)

unless....N.Jones down to J.McViegh and then S.Thomo up to N.Brown, Hmm, culd be nice, but nuh.

I hav a feeling Pfieffer wil get the nod and ill be laughin!

league issue is no problem, im playing second lowest scorer...hahaha

The other factor in the Taylor/Brown debate is stubboness and pride...

I didn't get him last week when he was 94.2.....so no way in hell am I going to pick him up now that he is 50kodd dearer....

Stupid I know....but it is a factor in the decision making!!

And if he doesn't?

He may well do...get up to $250k or so...then what?...

...you trade him off for a rookie who is hopefully getting a game at the time (no guarentees at all). Sure, you're $200k richer (which certainly isn't a bad thing), but you're 2 trades down...

...and you're in exactly the same predicament next time one of your starters doesn't play for one reason or another.

Personally...I'd be trading Bowden out for a cheaper (and still better performing ;) ) player and making some $ that way.
Gets you more points on the board this week, plus saves a trade.

And yeah, no point crying over spilt milk (or dropped cakes) re: price increases.
I dropped Dew for Hill this week.
Yeah, it "cost" me over $100k, but I still made cash, and feel better about Hill consistantly out-performing Dew when he comes back.
Sometimes the extra evidence is worth a few extra bucks.

Ok I dont want to play down a man up back this week.

Trying to figure out what to do.

Emergencies are Proud and Pfeiffer, Pfeiffer names on extended bench but looks like wont play?

Also have Bowden in the side.

Do I trade Bowden for Shaw/Milburn??? yes its sideways but bowden will be dropping cash plus there just so many uncertanties at the moment?

Or do I give myself a 0 up back this week (maybe trade out one the 2 rookies which would be pretty stupid tho considering they both gonna start going up after the next game and should get plenty chances throughout the year)

If was for shaw or milburn? which one? im thinking milburn as I could probably get shaw at cheaper price throughout year as not quite as consistent?

Current Backs

Cornes, Bowden, Johncock, Newman, Bock, Mattner, Bradshaw (Proud, Pfeiffer)

From the AFL website.

"WEST COAST'S assistant coach Tony Micale has said he can't comment on reports that vice captain Andrew Embley had glandular fever.
Embley, the 2006 Norm Smith Medallist, last night pulled out of the team to play the Swans at Sydney's ANZ Stadium tomorrow night because of what the Eagles described as illness.

Wingman Mark Nicoski has been promoted from the emergency list to replace Embley for the round four AFL match. "

if Bowden is an iffy then wouldn't u pick n.brown..because even if bowden gets the nodd this week..you'd be worried about next week and the week after...especially when you are worried mackie is back...

so even if it works out this week..what about the next 2 weeks..

you want to be busy upgrading to kornes, riewoldt and j.brown, drummond (in my case)...instead of worrying about your backline..

and looking at your team..you dont really need any upgrades..so n.brown is my vote..

Bowden for who though? There are no cheap guns around, all of them will cost you atleast 400k at a minimum. Mundy, Kennely, Stiffy, etc etc. Thats a sideways trade and still leaves me with no playing emergencies.

No i think the definate way to go is keep faith in Bowden and bring in a rookie to cover this week and make me some money and provide a backup on the bench.

The more i think about it, the more im liking Brown.

dont be rediculous. consistancy is no matter wen talkin about shaw/milburn.

Milburn, good game -120.......bad game - 100
Shaw, good game - 130.....bad game - 90

i hav both and stokd! i hav 1 0 this week in backline but my other players there will make up 4 it....ie...C.Cornes, Milburn, Shaw, Mattner, Waite, Symes..Out - pfieffer, proud, thompson

Depends what you want to get out it in the long run I suppose. If Barlow scores his average again this week, he'll be worth more than Nicoski would be if he also scores his average, and on current form you'd have to say this is likely. But- if Nico does play, and scores a smidgin over his average, then he'll go up in value as well.

Either smacks of a sideways trade to be honest though, and you can't be sure that Selwood is going to get a lot of games if you believe this board :)eek:). Then again I'm not sure Barlow will play every game this year either, but surely he'll get on the park a bit more than Selwood?

I'm thanking my lucky stars I chose Barlow over Nico at the start of the year...:thumbsu:
