12 month sentence suspended for 12 months. Marley back in the starting lineup this weekend? ;)

The Collingwood board is amusing, I'm surprised how many of them aren't familiar with the court system. A lot of them can't work out what a suspended sentence is

Have to admit, I even found that strange. Some thought it meant he goes to jail after 12 months?

I would have thought Collingwood supporters would be especially familiar with how the court system works.

woman of the year 2014

da judge

So three little heroes give Marley a hard time in the loos........he doesn't back down, follows them outside and gives one of them a smack in the mouth?
I'd say the judge got it right............pretty tiresome these days seeing these little f***s travelling round in groups giving blokes a hard time

Sensible post.

Sensible judge too, she knows that jail time would not be a suitable punishment for a kid who made one stupid mistake.

Conviction with a suspended sentence sounds about right.

Williams also faces the very real likelihood of a Civil case bring brought against him.

Pain and suffering, loss of wages, employment opportunities, medical costs, other unspecified damages etc etc

This is far from being over.

He was pretty close to getting a lot more "hard times" in the loos, although it wouldn't be the other guys getting it in the mouth

Any civil action will more than likely be settled out of court.

No jail time for Marley, and no more stress. Can concentrate on rebuilding his season, and fight for a place in our side.

Wouldn't have thought it will be that easy.

With the bloke that Williams hit holding the upper hand, any initial offer from Marley's team will no doubt be declined in order to gain maximum exposure in the press.

A potential Civil case might have be settled on the strips of a court house, but Marley's wallet is more than likely going to be empty for several years.

Certainly won't be quick, or worry free.
