HFNL 2015 Season

Who would of thought the most controversial topic on this forum would be Jake Myles. Many mixed opinions. "Todayztheday" great to have another new post to the forum. It's all fair information and obviously close to the Hamilton affair.
Regardless of what Jake has supposedly done or not done it's what's ahead which is the true measure of the mans ability and his mark he will leave on the Hampden League. Can't wait to see how he goes at Portland.

I have received a text message this morning suggesting Rhys Raymond may have in fact signed with Warrnambool for 2014. The Coach of this club called him in respect to his movements for 2014 and was told "I'm playing for Warrnambool". Looks like 'MFooty' may be on the money with this one! Some of the best info in the comp on this site!

Jake Dignan signing to Portland Tigers has been announced. 2014 midfield looking good...egan, myles, dignan, england, falcone

As expected, 21/9 was reported he had agreed to the contract details. Good job at the smelter and some handy match payments. Looking good the Tigers! Finals already calling...

Ben Dobson could be wearing purple next season as he has been in talks with Port Fairy Seagulls. It would be a massive signing for the Seagulls, Dobson from the Koroit Saints was a very important player this season and a very versatile player. It's was suggested weeks ago that Port Fairy had meetings with two Interleague representatives and this sounds like it is one of them.

North Warrnambool are due to make a decision on its coach for 2014 in the coming week. My source said names like Bernard Moloney, Shane Threlfell, Matthew Buck, Liam Ryan, Nigel Kol, Wayne Robertson and Nick O'Sullivan were being thrown around as contacted or interested but he was unsure on which ones have applied or declined.
He also said that VFL player Marcus Darmody is linked to one of those in some form of package with other players but would not divulge who.
Information as it comes to hand.

Joe Dare won't be coaching the Bombers - Trunk Hammond is firming as favourite as the Bombers (despite much searching) find it hard to get any interest.

It seems Trunk is a lot more excited about his pending appointment than many of the Bombers.

We are on fire 'Ecklin'! Yeah it's an interesting call by the Bombers. Joe and Levi Dare no certainties yet?

North Warrnambool will announce their coach early next week, they have had 5 applicants.

One day earlier than expected but it's official Stephen 'Trunk' Hammond has been appointed as Cobden Bombers new coach for 2014 as reported on Colac Radio.

The Hamilton Kangaroos President has made a public request for any builders with work to contact the club on the back page of today's Hamilton paper as they search for their 3rd senior coach in 12 months. This request, that wreaks of desperation, was made after stating he was wrapped with the response they have had to their now closed applications that included only 6 new along with 7 re applications to available positions. What is going on down the Highway???????????? The fall out from the Jake Myles debacle apparently has lead to all linkss in SA being severed which does not bode well for our fellow former Western Border counterparts.

As for Portland, we are very excited to see what our newest recruit Jake Dignan can add to our talented list along with the new coach and a swag of other possibilities. The Tiges are building nicely for 2014!

Joe happy at the Bombers and should stay, whereas Levi is willing to listen to any approaches.

All interesting, could ex Tiger coach Jarrod Holt land at the Kangaroos this coming season as their coach? Has been interviewed.

More around Nth Wbool with ex Koroit Saint Andrew Foster throwing his hat into the coaching ring.
Matt Buck has the support of a lot of the playing group according to a prominent midfielder out there and he has also the signings of Marcus Darmody returning from VFL and 2 time Maskell Medallist Liam Ryan coming out of retirement as playing assistant coaches.

Will North be throwing money around in 2014 like they did this year ? Getting Ryan out of retirement and Darmody playing each week would suggest they having another go. No doubt saving a bit of coin with Haynes and Myles gone.

What's your opinion on Hammond HampdenMan will he be able to bring a game plan that will bring the bombers up the ladder?

North Warrnambool is an interesting choice which would you go for?

Well there isn't too many clubs left that have the luxury of not having to pay for players these days 'Blythe'. It's just the way football has gone, WDFNL mostly to blame by paying avg players huge money. Ryan and Darmody have been linked to a coaching application by Buck so I would suggest the financials are yet to come into play. No doubt saving some money with Haynes and Myles gone.

'MFooty' my opinion on Hammond is that he is a great character and passionate about his club and football but....with the current rumours of a player exodus maybe not the wisest choice by the Bombers. Damon Delaney joins the rumour list of players leaving the club, he is likely to land at either Old Collegians or Nirranda. Levi Dare I have heard is heading back to the VFL. All unsubstantiated rumours but non the less out there. Not sure there was much more interest in the position. As for his gameplan it will need to be out of this world to lift Cobden up if all of these players are leaving.

North Warrnambool have a chance to show some allegiance to their grassroots and back in a fresh coaching face in Buck, along with Ryan and Darmody, also apparently ex Eagle mid Justin Marris is on the card as a non playing assistant. Although untried at senior level Buck has heavy backing apparently by players and a background of well respected good junior/reserves coaching. It's worth a chance in my opinion.

Andrew Foster could also be a worthy shot if he has some firepower behind him, he has credits, 5 time premiership player, premiership coach, shows club loyalty and is fully invested in anything he does. Interestingly his apprentice in his business is Sam Dobson....

Forget Threlfell (shown no improvement of sides coached) Moloney (couldn't lift Camperdown to great heights), Holt (playing coach better suited to Hamilton job) and Kol (dumped after winning a flag because of players dislike to his attitudes to anyone outside his favored group of players), all been there done that's with not enough positives to get this position.

A good review Hampden Mad and I don't think you are to far off the mark, time will tell. 100% correct about WDFL paying stupid and big money for ordinary footballers (GOP) The Bombers did search high and low (as did Terang) and just couldn't get any interest. Some ???of the players are disappointed they couldn't attract a higher calibre coach. Any confirmation on Joe Dare going to Colac? Warrnambool have been very quiet - have they lost a bit of hunger ? Camperdown have also lost a couple of quality players to Melb suburban and I believe Spook Sinnot could be hanging up the boots as time marches on. Talk is that he will be putting a fair bit of time into his son getting him ready for the juniors.

Thanks Blythe, no confirmation of Joe Dare as yet but plenty talking about it. HFNL guilty of riding the coaching round about to exhaustion, there has to be a new generation of coaches coming through soon because you can only go to the well so many times before it's dry or contaminated water. Warrnambool have signed Rhys Raymond (first stated by MFooty) and more and more people suggesting this is true, they will sign another couple yet and there will be a big one I feel, passion is rarely lost at this club and it starts at the top, Tocka is a win only kind of man. Camperdown will be an interesting side, lost some quality and gained some good fringe players back. Spook has had a terrific career and rightly so he wants to put time into sons development.

Blythe, Spook's son is only 1 year old so I doubt that will have an influence on whether he plays next year - I think he will be playing on. His brother Matt on the other hand has retired and will be coaching his boys in U 14's and assisting Gooba Casey in the coaches box.

Word from our neighbours in south Camperdown is that joe dare is still undecided on his future - a determining factor maybe his girlfriend plays A grade netball for the Colac tigers. Watch this space but don't be surprised to see the Dare boys in Colac next year.

Sorry - someone over that way is obviously winding me up regarding Spook and his son's coaching. In future I will double check my information.

Down to 3 for North Warrnambool with Andrew Foster withdrawing from applications. Decision likely within a couple of days according to source.
