Wow, what an ego.

"Don't worry I'm still taking full responsibility for all of this mess!
Sh*t I am going to lose my $1.2 million a year job, any chance to sit on a zillion boards and get paid by each for doing SFA!
Of course I'm going to fight this every inch of the way from my Toorak mansion to Jolimont!

I'm the golden boy!!!!"

But but but I thought that is what the investigation was about, whether we took banned substances that would lead to players receiving infraction notices.

It was.

And it seems that there is too much doubt over the drug in question the players will not receive infraction notices.

However, it seems that in the course of this investigation, they have identified conduct and behaviour of key officials at EFC in 2012 that showed a lack of care and diligence for the players and their health.

So I don't know why EFC fans persist with this 'but but but' nonsense. The conduct of the EFC in 2012 is nothing to be proud of, even though they were not doping.

This is magnificent.

I never thought I'd see the day where someone would choose to fight a charge of bringing the AFL into disrepute by ransacking the public image and integrity of the CEO and taking the AFL to the Supreme Court.

The James Hird legal rampage has begun. We can only sit back blissfully and admire.

Reminds me of some of the tactics from the great book and good movie John Grisham's 'THE FIRM'.

Here's the thing though, if Hird takes on this battle and loses do you think the AFL will EVER help Essendon again in future after the golden boy tried to take them down?

I hope for Hird's sake he has 100% confidence in what he is about to do because if this backfires Essendon will more than likely be pulverised for the next 50 years because of the actions of one silly man..

Do you think they're going to be nice to Essendon whether they win Or lose?

Cheating and 'public systems'. Bernard Gert, a philosopher and ethicist, delivered a speech on Cheating at a July 2000 student ethics conference at Ohio University.

Gert talks about "public systems", such as sports, in which the rules for acceptable and unacceptable behaviour are known to everyone involved, and it is not irrational for a participant to be guided and judged according to these rules.

He defines cheating as something it is not possible to do unintentionally.

Gert concluded the following.

We are not primarily concerned with the wholeness of a person or an institution, as talk of integrity suggests, rather we are concerned with the proper behavior of a person participating in the activities of an institution. This behavior can show respect for the other persons who are also participating in these activities by abiding by those rules that you expect them to follow. However, a person who cheats fails to show this respect. By cheating he demonstrates that he does not regard himself as bound by the same rules that he expects everyone else to follow.

And for those that think this is only about the WADA code:

There are many meanings in 'how you play the game'. Certainly it means playing by the rules of the game. But playing the game properly, with justice and integrity, also requires playing by rules beyond the game. We must conform to community ideas or ideals of 'sportsmanship'. It is important in all societies to be the good sport, to be seen as acting fairly and accepting whatever life throws our way.

Oh the truth will come out alright and when it does this site will lose about 90% of its members. Some of you will front up but most will delete their accounts.
So Hird destroying Essendon & attempting to destroy the AFL is all just part of his master plan to destroy Bigfooty?

Fantastic post. Thank you. It really puts into words what many of have been feeling, but have been unable to express.

No. Its all a big conspiracy because Vlad was jealous that Hird cut in when he was tuning Gale.

First it was a bit of anal with lube.

Then it was a vigourous session without.

Now it will be barbed wire and gerbels.

The only conclusion I can draw from this is that James Hird is a sadomasochist of the highest order.
Your constant and repetitive use of sodomy-based analogies has me starting to wonder about your mental state and/or lifestyle. Not that there's anything wrong with that etc.

More spin, more smokescreen, more deflection, more lack of responsibility, more blame everyone/everything else, more me me me me me.......his only way out of this self inflicted farcical mess is through the use of $15k a day QC's. This says it all.

I reckon Vlad & the AFL should try and drag it out for as long as they can, sooner or later Hird will run out of money at that rate his QC is charging.
