James Hird once again given bad legal advice by the people who get paid more the more time he spends in court...

They've really got him sucked in, haven't they! Is there another avenue to appeal further?

Too many enablers in the Hird camp it seems. Would be one of the reasons he's got himself into this mess.
nah

there was/is one reason and it is staring everyone in the face but you guys are too stupid to see it is the inexorable pursuit of scaling the apogee of competition.

rules hold no court.

thucydides - the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

whatever your definition of morality, it has no place. The competition extends over the boundary line to the john elliot backrooms. if you want a pure vision of sport, watch your children play on the weekend without john tomic or glynn hewitt. or the amateurs.

Possibly paying CHUB costs too. Doesn't matter. He has a benefactor to balance his own role as malefactor. So money is of no concern. Which is why said benefactor insisted on trying to receive costs from Chub. Because money is no issue. It all makes sense from a windy hillock.

well, albert infers an intimacy only megan, poynton, and some lowlands beencounter[sic] with a curvey dutch WWII starvation legacy behind are congizant of. cognizant.

behind as derriere
Take that intimacy that comes with Albert and prefix it with the noble title of Lord, which is where much of the faithful elevate him to.
Reference this to the most glorious Lord of our time, Lord Blackadder, and sit back and marvel at the uncanny character similarities the 2 share.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmund_Blackadder
Blackadder is a self-serving, cynical opportunist concerned solely with increasing his own influence, status and wealth rather than serving any altruistic goals. Most Blackadders portrayed by Atkinson aspire to be King of England, a goal that two of them actually achieve. His character is symbolized by the adder, the United Kingdom's only native venomous snake,[1] which sometimes appears in the series as a visual motif.

With the exception of the first Blackadder incarnation, Prince Edmund, each Blackadder is generally sardonic, charismatic and intelligent. While he is haunted by bad luck, he is usually very capable of manipulating his way out of a crisis and in securing for himself some degree of prestige and fortune, particularly his third incarnation. His first incarnation, whilst initially a cowardly, dimwitted weakling, gradually becomes more of a capable manipulator over the course of his series and by the end of it has taken on the personality that his successors will share. Blackadder is also usually one of the few intelligent people present at any given time and usually is surrounded by incompetent, slow-witted and at times mad servants, equals and superiors. As a result, he possesses an acerbic wit and is usually prepared with numerous quick put-downs, which are often wasted on those at whom they are directed. He always has an amusingly exaggerated simile to describe whatever situation he finds himself in.

He is frequently present at some of the defining moments of British history, but usually views his contemporaries with unbridled contempt, regardless of their historical importance or interest. In particular, he tends to comment sardonically on what might, to modern eyes, be considered the more ludicrous follies of history (from the injustice of the medieval witchhunts, to the petty whims and stupidities of various British monarchs, to the pointless butchery of World War I). As a result, he is something of a modern perspective placed in past societies. He is also generally dismissive of the contemporary arts and culture in the various eras in which he lives, such as medieval folk pageants, Shakespeare, Georgian Romanticist poetry, theatre and Charlie Chaplin films.

Each Blackadder is also surrounded by various other figures who reappear over the series. Most, such as his repulsive manservant Baldrick and the various imbecilic aristocrats with whose company he is lumbered (such as Lord Percy Percy or George), are usually hindrances to him of whom he is repeatedly incapable of ridding himself. There is also usually another main character who is on a par with him in terms of intelligence and serves as someone for him to play games of one-upmanship with, such as Lord Melchett andCaptain Darling, but these characters are sycophants who are obsequious to their superiors Queenie and General Melchett respectively, whom Blackadder himself is also forced to reluctantly serve.

Way I read it is that the benefactor paid ASADA's cost's this was about Hird paying for his costs, so as things stand he is out of pocket unless someone else decides to lend a helping hand.

Don't matter he is now the 'disgraced James Hird'. And with the ASADA secret documents to be released it might get a hell of a lot worse for him.

So, is Dank Baldrick with a cunning plan?
Is Hugh Lawrie's Prince George David Evans?
Is EFC Denmark?

Can it get worse? The possibility is mouth watering.

Shows what is wrong with the money grabbing legal system... It cost's someone 640k to appeal a case. Crazy stuff

The appeal cost more like 80k. The bulk is for the original Federal Court case. Considering the costs of the lawyers (and they chose to use expensive ones) the court itself, the Justices etc - it's not unreasonable. Appealing a ruling like that one *should* cost a lot of money, anyway. That's a lot of resources on a total waste of time.

The immediate money is irrelevant. This was covered by a "benefactor" to tie up loose ends.

What is relevant is that as the days, weeks, months, and years go by....James Hird becomes less and less "James Hird - Golden Boy" and more and more "the fallen/disgraced James Hird".

His whole life has been subsidised by fawning linament sniffers who adored "The Golden Boy".

He is now "not fun to be around" for the high flyin' linament sniffers.

I doubt he gets another bean, or favour, out of anyone...anytime.

Good luck to him. He is now in a very big lonely ocean.

Attempted cover-up's are a bitch sometimes.
pretty sure that journey is more or less complete.

But having said that, the footy public is a pretty fickle beast. Wayne Carey is back, sins absolved. Give it 10 years and they'll no doubt drum up some kind of redemption narrative for him

If the players or their children have health issues that are common , dont think there will be a hird comeback

"The judge said Hird refused during the civil trial against Chubb to provide the transcript of the April 16, 2013, interview and the details of the 'show cause' notices to the 34 Essendon players, saying it was subject to confidentiality orders in the Federal Court proceeding.

Justice Hargrave said no evidence of those confidentiality orders was provided to him and no explanation was given as to why the documents which could have helped Hird's case could not be tendered in the civil trial."

Suspect the reason would be that it doesn't show James or Essendon in a very positive light...

It must be a god awful slow news day.

If there was anyone currently or formerly in footy who could cover the bill it would be James!
goes to show how much you bury your heads outside of what happens at the tulla..

far from a slow news day, particularly in sport...go have a look. there's more to life than the * website and bigfooty.

eels salary cap cheating, hodge out for a month or so, leicester and some budget crap... yeah nah...nothing else to read about but hird!! pffffttt....

If Essendon types want to rattle tins for him outside Etihad before we ... lol ... "play" them ... in a few weeks, I still have that shiny new New Zealand 20c piece ready to contribute to the great cause.

Hang on to it, your club needs you

Wonder what's next for Albert .
Perhaps he could hook up with Ricky Nixon , Roger Rogerson and Jacko and take the show on the road .
Or maybe he can follow in the footsteps of another golden boy and become a meter maid on the Gold Coast .
Really is a massive fall for this bloke ...

Not unless Roger is doing the show in a live cross from Gaol.

He would have been better off taken legal advice from the bloke in your avatar.

Not the first time those pesky non-existent confidentiality orders preventing the truth coming out :D
