Hi all,

I am hoping some of you are interested in a podcast I've been working on for the past year, exploring the build of every non-Victorian AFL club - AFL Team Builders.

It launches next week, with South Melbourne's move to Sydney the first episode.

The eight-part series goes behind the scenes with the people (inaugural CEOs, presidents, coaches, board members, and star players) tasked with building the clubs that joined the then-VFL as it expanded beyond the confines of Victoria.

Check out the trailer and key info: https://www.zerohanger.com/introducing-afl-team-builders-152349/

Episode Dates:
1. Sydney Swans: July 02, 2024
2. Brisbane Bears: July 09, 2024
3. West Coast Eagles: July 16, 2024

Excellent content. Some of the most vivid descriptions I've heard or read about the relocation. If I knew, I had forgotten that in 1981/2 off-season the playing group was fractured to the point they trained in two separate groups - those who were opposed to relocation and those who supported it. How you can keep performing as a team when the players are so divided is incredible - and yet we won the 1982 night final. Lots of other great examples of the adversity the players and club faced and the disgraceful lack of support that they received from the AFL (even though the AFL were the biggest beneficiaries from the move).

However, it is a bit of weird watch while Niall Seewang is on screen. He looks like he's not expecting to be watched - wooden and inert, presumably reading an autocue - with a very odd background that includes a bit of building site. That was completely overcome by the tightly curated and well chosen content and the quality interviews with some key figures (Quade, Moore, Carroll).

Highly recommend for those who wish to deepen their understanding of our club's roots and the transition from Melbourne to Sydney in particular. It also really enhanced my appreciation (once again) for all those pioneers who have enabled the success we now have.
