hey folks i know tassie is a long way from the gabba but from where we stand the crowd support for the lions has fallen thru the floor !! once the support was huge and it was a tough play to play like in adelaide but ,now we hear more boos against the lions and greater support for the other team , whats going on up there ??????????

this is easily answered, more Victorians can afford to move to queensland and fill the stadium

Tonight was pretty bad... last week was understandable because Collingwood has lots of fans all over the country. But tonight the Sydney crowd was plentiful and vocal. When the Lions had their short bursts of getting back into the game the home fans pepped up a bit, but the Brisbane crowd was comprehensively defeated :(

Why don't we just 'merge'?
At least then we might get some cricket recognition.

Who knows Merv may even become more than a Yes man as a national cricket selector, if we all just moved north (on 2nd thoughts). No relevance to the Lions but its just one of them nights where frustration is consuming.

D Hussey - no doubt will be a relevation in the IPL, not that the selctors will be watching.

Quiet as a morgue tonight at times.
You thought it was a pro Sydney crowd.

No chanting, no noise, nothing.

Lots of Sydney stuff I could here.

I am centre of the ground in the Northern Stand in Bay 6.
You must have been at a different game to me then.

Crowd was alright I thought considering the uninspiring football being played.

Definitely wasn't anything close to a pro-Sydney crowd.

But the problem is TBD that you don't get alright crowds anywhere else in the land. You get passionate crowds, despite what is being served up.

Unfortunately this is something that we will always contend with. unless we start winning again.

How I miss the Gabbatoir, ;)

Like I said in another thread... no point whinging to the Brisbane supporters on Bigfooty... we likely aren't the problem.

I scream myself hoarse every game.

agree with you there TBD. It was pretty full on occasionally but for the majority of it I think the most sounds were those of frustration and boredom, at the final siren I sort of sighed a sigh of relief and then said well that's 3 hours of my life I'll never get back.

Triple MMM summed it up pretty well when they went to their boundary rider and she said not sure what the problem was but Brisbane seemed really flat. The Swans bench were yelling and cheering their team mates on the field on and the Brisbane bench was deathly silent.

Maybe it has something to do with the simpletons they employ as ushers.

We use the standing room on the bottom of the Southern Stand and get spoken to by the ushers when all we are doing is trying to show support for the Lions. If an opposition supporter does the same, nothing is done and when we ask why we were told that the opposition supporters are in the minoroty and we should respect that.

Well I just can not work that out. We do not swear or are not aggressive at anyone and never drink when we are at the footy. In fact we try to have some fun. I like to cheer for the Lions when the crowd is in a lull, just to get a bit of atmosphere going.

Last night I abused by a woman in a Swans scarf when I made a comment as the ball was kicked into the Swans bench and nearly hit Paul Roos. Something like "that will not help you, hitting the coach with the ball". The ushers just looked over at what I was going to do.

Later when we asked a Sydney supporter was standing in his seats (he was doing it all night), obscuring the view of those behind we were called everything under the sun by the feral. The ushers then told us that he was allowed to stand in his seats. He had his kid standing ON the seat and they did not seem to care. What would happen if the kid was injured by falling off?

Little wonder the crowds are quiter than they used to be. If you question any of this, come to the standing room behind the Lions bench and see for yourself.

Rant ended.
