Hey TheWitness good work doing your count once again! Always invaluable.

Can I possibly get current placings for some songs?

Milky Chance - Stolen Dance
Flight Facilities - Sunshine
Lorde - Yellow Flicker Beat
Asgeir - King and cross
I now have them at
Milky Chance - Stolen Dance #6
Flight Facilities - Sunshine #131
Lorde - Yellow Flicker Beat #25
Asgeir - King and cross #9

Thanks for coming back thewitness. When do you think you'll be posting the first full list of your current tally?

Also, how have Ads and Tusk Vegas by Movie been doing? Two of my favourites for the year. Probably won't poll high but that won't stop me from voting for them.

Cheers.

I will probably put up a first full list on Wednesday.
Haven't seen a single vote for either of those songs by movie.

So how do you do this?
By doing data scrapes of all the forums, blogs and various social media's where people post there H100 votes. Been doing it for the last 6 countdowns. With around 9000 recorded votes it becomes pretty accurate. Can normally pick around 80-85 of the 100. 50-55 of the songs within 10 places of their actual position. And at the pointy end it gets pretty close to correct.

Great. I'll be looking forward to it. Always a big help when creating a playlist to please everybody for the drive over to Falls. Ha, well I guess they'll each have one when I get around to voting.

Oh okay, sounds like a lot of work, nice work haha

You learn a lot of tricks and places to look after doing it for 6 years, so it's not as much work as it sounds. This year I have even put together a bit of info on the bias for or against individual artists by using this technique as compared to actual countdowns. We all sort of had an idea of the biases based losely on genres but its actually more complex than that.

At this stage:
Kishi Bashi – Carry On Phenomenon
The War On Drugs – Red Eyes
SKATERS – Miss Teen Massachusetts
Future Islands – Spirit
Émilie Simon – Quand Vient Le Jour
Gruff Rhys – American Interior
Hamilton Leithauser – The Smallest Splinter
TV On The Radio – Happy Idiot
Foster the People – Coming of Age
Passenger – Riding to New York

although I am considering pushing Pineapple Thief – Bond in there

How am I looking thewitness?

Seeing My Desire is a bit surprising, seems like it has had a lot of play lately, I'm happy to see Surrender fairly high.

What about Mac DeMarco and Holy Holy's Like a Version? I feel like I'm asking to much haha

Hey thewitness I don't really care for the Foo Fighters personally but where do you have them in the count? Interested to see if the demographic is still keen to vote them in.

Also would love some updates on Ball Park Music, DMA's and Run The Jewels

The Smith Street Band are notoriously one of the worst bands that this counting system places much higher than they actually end up finishing. They must be one of the favourites of the people who tend to post their votes online.
Passing out the pieces #79, Salad Days #118, Good Bye Weekend #369
Holy Holy's - Love will tear us apart at #333.

Something From Nothing should probably do enough to scrape in. Their at #91 at the moment. The other songs seem pretty unlikely.
BPM - She Only Love Me #19, BPM - Everything is Sht #67, BPM - Trippin The Light #74, BPM - Cocaine Lion #100, BPM - Diane Young #331.
DMAs - Delete #26, DMA's - Laced #212, DMA's - So we Know #252.
RTJ - Close Your Eyes #37, RTJ - Blockbuster Night #318

I know but I've tried to like his stuff since about 2007 because he is a friend of a friend, but just cant. Laika did bring a tear to my eye on the first few listens though.
Who would have thought that a song about a space dog would be so sad?!?
