^^^ Solid list....
Sia - Chandelier not played on JJJ once this year...
Though will it be on the shortlist to vote for??? Possibly, as many of her other tracks have got airtime...
If so, good smokey...

What was the top ten?

10. The Preatures - Blue Planet Eyes (ok it started ok, great album)
9. Thundamentals - So We Can Remember (wtf)
8. Vance Joy - Dream your life away (not my cup of tea but I can deal)
7. Royal Blood - Royal Blood (the typically inoffensive rock that soils triple j)
6. Flight Facilities - Down to Earth (meh)
5. Sticky Fingers - Land of Pleasure (awful)
4. Hilltop Hoods - Walking Under Stars (aussie hip hop pls go)
3. Alt J - All this is yours
2. Ball Park Music - Puddinghead
1. Chet Faker - Built on Glass (typical triple j number one, I just don't get the love for this guy)

I stopped even bothering about being perplexed by triple j lists years ago, but I just don't understand how Lost in the Dream by the War on Drugs hasn't got more traction on triple j than it has. It seems right up their alley, for me it's one of the best albums of the last 5 years, and so much better than a lot of the tripe above.

Tooooooooo be fair, "Red Eyes" has been the third most played song on JJJ in the last 12 months

They won't have a song on the shortlist that's never been played on the station. I don't expect it to make the 100.

Why does that list look eminently more sensible.

I haven't listened to a single one of those albums this year.

Only one of these I've given time to is The War on Drugs, which I liked. Have heard a couple of tracks from Sun Kil Moon too, and it was ok.

Why does that list look eminently more hipster.

Fixed.

Might just throw my top 10 albums of the year out there while I'm at it:

8 - 'Under Colour of Official Right' by Protomartyr
7 - 'Antemasque' by Antemasque
6 - 'Rooms of the House' by La Dispute
5 - 'Plowing into the Field of Love' by Iceage
4 - 'Here and Nowhere Else' by Cloud Nothings
3 - 'Cope' by Manchester Orchestra

Not much different. Or any better.

Royal Blood self titled is a cracking album, LOL @ inoffensive rock label few posts above. great album is great.

rest of the list is trash btw.

Totally agree, was in my top 4 albums of the year, also voted for Banks which was unreal, Sticky Fingers won me over during their live set at Splendour! The Preatures, Ball Park & Hilltop also got a vote from me and made the top 10 list

Personally for me, my favourite album was Evergreen by Broods but never made the list. Not sure why people are attacking the credibility of the countdowns and Kingsmill for that matter (although i am in no way shape of form sticking up for him). Its been a great year for Aussie music and good on JJJ for promoting it enough for the listeners to consider them their favourite albums

Why do people hate Richard Kingsmill so much?

And when did Triple J bow down to The Man and start tricking up DJs' titles by dropping off first or second names? Next it'll be Nathan, Nat, and Shauny Mac sponsored by Harvey Fresh while trotting out something on Future Classic.
