port were never in serious danger and weren't close to the nothingness of North. someone just brought this up the other day. North over the last 5 years makes our worst 5 years look like a dream. the money problems stemmed from a poor deal that the AFL was never going to let kill us, they let us break away from the crippling stadium deal of west lakes and find solutions which we did!
Port were far worse off field in 2011 than North are today.
Port were over $10m in debt in 2011 while North are debt free today.
Port were getting similar crowds in Adelaide in 2011 to what North are getting in Melbourne today.

this doesn't mean anything. everyone goes through debt. we got away from that deal. done.

Extremely positive in the early days, Port were a joke in 2011/12, yet the club had fantastic energy in 2013/14. He, like the coach has hung around way too long now though and they have both lost a significant portion of the member base.

Port would of got the spoon in 2011 had gold coast not exist or port not won that final game in 2011 at Adelaide oval vs demons .

That game in a way was one of the most important points in your clubs history.

The future of AFL footy in SA wasn't in footy park but in Adelaide oval .

Port in 2012 got 5 wins and a draw from 22 games. Remarkably they didn't get bottom 4, they finished 14th

Cameron Ling mentioned on radio the other day how Port only won eight games in two years from 2011-2012, and how it puts two finals wins in the last nine years into perspective.
what perspective is that?

that because port sucked over 10 years ago they should appreciate that theyre mediocre today?

you would never hear this crap said to the supporters of big victorian clubs.

From the outside looking in, yes he has IMO.

Off field he got their house in order and attracted big sponsors to the club. Yes they rely on the AFL dividend but that is the reality for most clubs. Most people forget what a rabble they where before he arrived.

Kenny has his detractors but on field they have been very competitive, I know Port fans have high expectations but in all honesty, 2020 was probably their only real chance of getting a flag and it took a great Richmond side to knock them out of the prelim, if they won that they'd have won the flag.

Geelong and Sydney are the only clubs with a better win rate than Port since Hinkley arrived.
I know Hinkley hasn't won any silverware, but he deserves the chance to have a farewell in front of the Port faithful similar to what Simpson got to have yesterday.

He sure does, I might even make the trip interstate to give him the send off he deserves 🤩

Not sure if there is enough faithful Port supporters who would actually care. All I can say is that get ready for the next Showdown as it will be a Port home game and the fans are primed for some kind of send off for Ken.

I can't speak about the day to day things he did, but I rate highly what Koch brought to the table at Power. He was a less in your face version of Eddie Maguire - high profile, always willing to bat for Power, and instantly linked to the Club.

They didn't win a premiership under his chairmanship, but got fairly close.

I couldn't tell you who the new President is at Power...

David Koch is not the problem - although he’s an odd choice.

Either is the coach - although he’s made some odd choices.

The players have to put their hands up.

Yep Koch has done a good job imo. I remember the dark days of port before he came along, people were questioning their existence in the afl.

Yeah Port would have won the spoon if that other team who did win the spoon weren't there. CHAMPION ARGUEMENT.

Koch has attracted multi million dollar sponsorships to Port, it's easy to forget that Port were struggling to attract sponsors prior to Koch arriving at the club.

Port are about to become debt free, which is amazing as I remember Port having a crippling debt in 2011 like it was yesterday.

At the 15 minute mark of his speech last night, while introducing the senior coach, he called supporters that are anti-Hinkley bastards.

The fat shit can rot in hell.

How do I set my AFL Club to blank, this is not the Port Adelaide I grew up with, this is some AFL led parody and I refuse to continue to support it in any way.

Chief: Please set my AFL club to blank and remove the BTTB trophy.

I honestly don't know what you expect, the list is crap and over achieves. Look at the forward line for crying out loud. They're playing for the coach, but talent catches up when you get to finals and all teams are playing at their peak, with peak motivation.

You only have to look at the likes of Ratugolea, Narkle and F Evans getting games in the forward line, along with the lack of depth in the SANFL (evidence of this being Port winning the SANFL wooden spoon) to realise Hinkley simply doesn't have the cattle to take Port further than a preliminary final.

Next year they'll bring in Lukosious who'll be a huge upgrade on Dixon, and Lord should get more gametime as he continues to develop (talls take more time) but the small forwards apart from Rioli are close to the worst in the league.
Carlton are the only club with worse small forwards on their list.

Koch is doing a good job as president given he has Port on track to being debt free, and has overseen a football department that's yielded four top 4 finishes in the last five years.

I know the fans are baying for blood because none of those top 4 finishes have been converted into grand final appearances, but I remember when my own club made the top 4 in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2019 with no grand final appearances to show for it.

I saw my own club finally get it right when we made the grand final in 2020 and won the flag in 2022, so I think Port need to keep looking for ways to improve via drafting, trading and bringing in new assistant coaches.
Only thing is it's hard to attract the best talent to SA when the majority want to live in Victoria.
