How many games have you attended?

Dad and I used to count when I was a kid. I remember these years - 88 (2), 89 (5), 90 (12), 91 (15), 92 (17), 93 (16), 94 (12), 95 (13), 96 (21) and after that probably around 15 a year except for 2004 (zero) and 2009 (six) when I was away and 2008 (19) and 2011 (17)

Maybe around 325? Including a few neutrals.

From 1969 to 1997, just about every week so average about 17 per year = 476.
Since 1997 probably down to 10 per year so = 140

Total around 550.

Collingwood V Bulldogs at the MCG, can't remember what year though. I do remember it being my first game and despite maybe 20-25K there my dad insisted on sitting on the top tier...I remember the players looking like dots...

An Adelaide V Melbourne match, also at the MCG

A few Collingwood games at AAMI. Moved to Adelaide in 2000 maybe seen two games vs Port and two games vs Adelaide here in that time...

Saw the NAB cup game this year between us and the crows too if that counts :S
So yea, grand total of ... 6 games ...

AFL membership said 36 last year. Which includes NAB cup games and round 1 and 2 finals games.

Not sure about anything beyond that, I have a terrible memory

Started in '64 and didn't miss one until the interstate teams started coming into the comp, haven't seen a game interstate at all. Then when I started my own small business in '98 I started missing a regular 9 or 10 games a session due to the pressure of work.

Couldn't be bothered sitting down and working it all out but its a LOT.

Used to split Essendon and St Kilda games when I was younger with the family (only Bomber in the family), about 6-8 each per year for a 10 years, so say 160 max from that.

For about 7 years didn't go all that often due to work and such, so say 3 games per year. Last 3 years roughly 15 Essendon and 10 neutral per year (AFL membership FTW), so 75. Add finals and interstate games to that, a top end estimate of about 250 not including pre season games.

Never worked that out before, mind blowing that I've been to something close to 100 neutral games!

on average 10-15 games a year since around 1992.

Should bring up the 300 this year. (though if I counted back properly it's probably already been and gone)
Edited for R&B questions.

Three more interesting questions:
b) How many games have you attended where your team wasn't playing?
c) How many interstate games have you attended?
d) When did you see your first game?

Would honestly have no idea how many games I've attended. Probably around 100 I would say. This is the first year I've had a membership, so my total will start to rise much quicker from now on.

b) Been to quite a few. Probably about 10 all up. Most recently Collingwood v Hawthorn, Round 15 last year. I'm going to North v GC this week actually- got a mate from Tassie coming over for the weekend who is a North supporter.

c) None interstate. However, before they closed I got to a decent amount of the Melbourne suburban venues. Windy Hill, Moorabbin, Western Oval, Waverley and Princes Park- I got to at least one game at each of these before they closed. I was only three when I attended games at Windy Hill and Moorabbin, as they closed in 1991 and 1992 respectively. The only suburban venue still in use in my lifetime (born 1988) that I never got to was Victoria Park, which is a real shame because it was apparently quite the experience!

d) Can tell you to the exact day- July 20, 1991. Round 18. Essendon v North at Windy Hill. I was in fact a small handful of days short of my third birthday at the time!

Couldn't give an exact number.

I know I have probably attended as many Freo games as WC.

And I have definitely attended many times more neutral (Freo not included) games than WC.

Maybe 2-3 WC games a year, similar Freo and far more neutral (benefit of not living in WA).

Ive only missed about 7 home games since 96. Crazy but true. Add back in all the north melbourne and bulldog home games when they where playing in sydney that's prob 170-175 games. Been to manuka 3 times. Average about 2 games in melb a year. That's another 30 games. Went to every final played in sydney since 96, and quite a few away 16 all up.

Total: 224

Non swans games 5 that i can think of.

So maybe 229 all up?

(Thank god my wife isn't reading this :p)

I could do a report on every match I have seen live, I never got to see James Hird live, I was a student until the end of 2007 and was too poor even to come up from Tassie, for this I have always kicked myself.

1st live match: Sydney vs North Melbourne (Dome), 2008 Anzac weekend. My flights got stuffed up and I missed the Anzac clash, because of this game they brought in the interchange rule, due to Sydney having too many on the field. Most slow boring match I have ever seen, ended up a low scoring draw.
2nd live match: Essendon vs Brisbane 2008 (Dome), Essendon kicked 52 plus in the first quarter thanks to Lloyd and Lucas dominating and eased their way to victory, was so glad I got to see Lloyd and Lucas before they retired, Ryder played CHB and dominated Brown all game.
3rd live match: Essendon vs Carlton 2009, Went up to watch Essendon vs Carlton with 5 Carlton supporters, sat in amongst a sea of navy blue and cheered my face off as Essendon won as massive underdogs. Lloyd was BOG and Ryder had a massive game, we won by under a goal.
4th live match: Essendon vs Hawthorn, May 8, 2009 Bombers were seen as big underdogs, came in and railed Hawthorn, was the best match I have seen live to date, I remember hoping that Lloyd would not kick his 900th goal the week before, I remember thinking that Shoenmakers played well on Lloyd and that Pears was BOG smashing Jarryd Roughead, this is where I decided that I was always treating myself to watching Essendon play on my birthday weekends from now on.
5th live match, Essendon vs Richmond I remember being beaten 30 seconds before the siren, Laycock missed 3 goals in the last quarter and Stanton missed a running goal 20m out, I remember thinking that Richmond sang their song with huge pride and was in awe of the "Yellow and Black" chants.
6th live match, Essendon vs Port Adelaide May 8, 2010: Monfries played a great game, getting 25+ possessions off HFF and a couple of goals. Scott Gumbleton kicked 3 or 4 goals and I remember thinking "GUMBY HAS ARRIVED" lol. Pearce and Rodan kicked our arses though, Port won by less than a goal and we made Westhoff look like Paul Salmon. I also saw North vs Collingwood and some other games, they don't really count as they were insignificant to me ;)
7th live match, Essendon vs West Coast May 8, 2011 I was horrendously drunk, I will be honest, I don't remember the game that well seeing as I was shouted infinite beer before the game. Crameri announced himself to me and probably the rest of the world, Hurley vs Darling was a great duel and Reimers kicked a few, was sickened by people booing Stanton and even had a go at a few of our supporters, almost got myself into a fight because of it.
8th live match Essendon vs West Coast THIS YEAR, B'DAY WEEKEND, YEAH BABY! (didn't fall on the 8th like the other games though) going to be a cracker of a game with WCE undefeated.

66% win ratio in games I have seen Essendon play, and the two losses were by less than a goal.
Lucky supporter lol!
