Make no mistake, Geelong simply HAVE TO WIN against the Doggies.

The whole world is going to tip em, and for good reason, 21 wins and one loss in the home & away, the only team that seemed to have teamed up against them in Collingwood are out of the finals.

Most Doggies supporters will turn up and expect to win, as they should, but at the backs of their minds know it's going to be bloody tuff.

The fact the Chappy is out is a massive bonus for the Dogs, he slays us everytime, and Geelongs record under lights [take away their walk over against Melbourne], isn't that flash, plus given the Dogs will have 3 Friday night games in a row.

Geelong have also been very cocky, and with good reason, they have earn't that right, but at the same time, just places extra pressure to get the job done.

Last time they met, at Geelong, was at the start of a rough patch for the Doggies, the game before they JUST put away Melbourne in a very scrappy win, this time around, the Dogs have seemed to found that mojo back, BUT, Geelong should still win.

If the Dogs go down, expectations would have been to make finals in 2008, to get as far as they have was a bonus after finishing bottom 4 last year, so most will tick off a Prelim loss as a good season, HOWEVER, if Geelong lose, well, it will get very very ugly!

Discuss.

1. their fans maybe, but the club, esp tom harley, has not been cocky. and you could forgive them if they were.

2. "their mojo back"? theyve played one good game in the past five weeks

having said that, i do agree with you. geelong are under a fair bit of pressure.

also, the bulldogs have had a fantastic year. and if they were to knock the cats, they definitely deserve a spot in the GF

Yes they are under pressure but its been proven Geelong can handle it.
Geelongs record under lights? you need to do you research a bit better:

2008 under lights
Wins- 9 **Average winning margin 63 points**
losses 1
2007 under lights
Wins- 4
losses- 1

I don't think they are under any pressure at all. They are the reigning premiers, they have come off a stellar home & away season & have had a big win first up in the finals. They have nothing to prove & therefore can go about their business with a minimum of fuss. Even if by some strange quirk of fate Geelong were to lose this weekend or in the GF they will still be able to hold their heads up high. I can't see them being anything but relaxed going into this weekend, as they should be.

What do you base this on? The Geelong team have been nothing but professional throughout 2008, and 2007 for that matter. If you are in fact talking about the supporters, then explain why it is at all relevant to whether we win or lose on friday? So many people base their opinions on a team due to experiences with fans, its beyond ridiculous. Like it or hate it, its like the old saying "you can't choose your family, but you can choose your friends", players and clubs have no control over their supporters and the way they act.

Seriously, the Dogs are going to be violated in ways that would make the Marquis de Sade blush.

In fact the match has been rated R 18+ and moved to delay telecast so kiddies aren't haunted by the visions.

How much pressure is COONEY under to actually stand up in a big game when it counts?

I would say not much considering he is going into game with injury and hasen't been training all week. He will get his time

Pressure comes when you're not confident in your ability.

Geelong are super confident, with blokes like Scarlett bordering on outright arrogance. They wont lose.

Haha....yeah, Geelong under pressure. Bomber Thompson enjoyed eating his sandwiches during the course of a game a few weeks ago. I think he caught a nap during another one. He'll probably bring a picnic hamper this week and then break out the popcorn and champagne during the Grand Final.

If their is such a thing as a football team being on auto pilot, this is it.

Dogs under huge pressure. They haven't experienced what Geelong have, big prelim crowd. (98,000 V pies)

Dogs couldn't beat the Hawks at night in front of a much lesser crowd. Dogs trying to break their huge premiship drought, Dogs lost to Cats by 10 goals.

They are in the PRESSURE COOKER and it's turned on very high 300C degrees.

Watch them go to water.

Pressure, how much pressure were they under going into the 2007 GF, yeah like this is going to phase them, Cats in a canter.

Exactly. Geelong was under immense pressure going into the '07 finals series. Pressure from within, pressure from the fans, pressure from the football world, not to mention the Sword of Damocles hanging over their head i.e their history of finals chokes. Compared to last year, 2008 is a cakewalk in terms of pressure.

Turn it up...
