How unlucky was Martin Love?

Martin Love averaged 46.6 from 8 innings, and his last score was an unbeaten 100.

Admittedly, that score came against Bangladesh, but how many players get their Test careers terminated immediately after scoring a century?
If hussey scored a double ton today he wouldnt have taken Langers spot, he still would have been dropped. Love was a replacement only and no matter what he did he was never going to take a spot he was a fill in for. I think soon after he was dropped, he made a score of about 300.

Love has been pretty bad the last season though, how old is he now?

That 300 is the one I was talking about, he batted for 2 days as he was captain he wasnt declaring

If Hussey had scored a ton today he wouldn't have taken Langer's spot. That true.

But I reckon a century today would have all but ensured Hussey getting a run in the middle order before the end of summer. Especially when you consider the performances of Katich and Clarke.

I take your point, but I reckon a big score from Hussey would have seen him selected in the middle order within the next two months.

I'd say a failure today would have kept Hodgey at the front of that queue

I agree.

I'd like to see Hodge, Hussey and Martyn replace Clarke, Katich and Watson for the South Africa series.

The middle order mix just isn't right at the moment. Too many passengers.

Is he in line for a recall (if Kato is dumped as predicted)? And, if Watson is dropped again, surely he comes into the frame? Yes, Hodgey is first cab off the rank, but, seeing as Hussey is an opener first, would he still be up there?

I hate him, but I wish he played more for Australia, we might have won a couple more Pura Cups :D

How can anyone hate Martin Love?

The guy is the most laid back cricketer in Aus, probably too lid back. Wouldn't hurt a flea.

Very unlucky.

I think that Hussey and Hodge are the two guys in line for a middle order spot. That's pretty clear.

If Katich and/or Clarke get dropped by the end of this summer, I reckon you can put your house on Hodge and/or Hussey being their replacement(s).

If Shane Watson gets the axe anytime soon, I would expect the Australian selectors to still go for someone who offers a 5th bowling option. Obviously they'd want someone who can still bat, but I wouldn't be surprised to see James Hopes get an opportunity, or even Andrew Symonds if he's made some runs for Queensland by then.

I reckon there are elements within Australian cricket who would still like to see if Symonds can play Test cricket.

White > Moss > SYmonds, Hopes, Watson

Bullseye!

Could I have been any more spot-on?

No, not most of the time.
That explains a lot.

With that in mind, I have some advice for you.

If you can recall any posts where someone appeared to compliment you in any way, you should consider them from a different perspective.

Lamest. Comeback. Ever.

If you could point to some examples where I was categorically wrong, that would be more compelling than your hollow rhetoric.

Go back to the satellites, junior.

You're not ready for the big leagues.

"Martyn open? that is one of the stupidest ideas ever"

That good enough? Oh and you also said after this "I didnt even know Martyn opened"

So, why do you say stupid stuff without even knowing anything about it?
