Just a little tinker with the team. :D

Future Young Gun Team:

FB: Butler McKenzie Waters
CHB: Schofield J.Jones Smith
C: S.Selwood Swift Hurn
CF: Notte Kennedy Lecras
FF: Jetta Brown McKinley
R: Natinui Masten Shuey

INT: Priddis, Houlihan, Cockie, Rosa - not the best bench in the world but serviceable.

We're still a KPF/D away from having an awesome team, depending on where we play Brown.

Drafting someone like Griffiths at Pick 23 to play FF would be very very awesome, meaning Brown can play at CHB - love his straight line run via the corridor out of defence.

Any chance Black could last till 22/23?

Not going to comment on this entire team but will say that JoJo isn't big enough to hold down a key post at 189cm.

Butcher to FF and Brown to CHB for mine. Obviously no Jetta in FP.

Jesus that's an awesome spine. Butcher with pick 7, a mid and a small forward with picks 22 and 23.

Two out of Duncan, Bastinac, Colyer and Ah Chee would be great.

Quite like this team. Ebert instead of Duncan and Rosa on the bench though in saying that I'm not a fan of that bench

Houlihans disposal is fine. Id rather him kicking the ball than Swift, Ebert, Rosa. Infact id say his disposal is one of his strong points. Rarely misses a target and if he does its always to the advantage of our own player

Just for the record, Houlihan's disposal efficiency was 69%, Ebert's 68% and Rosa's 72% whilst Swift's was 70%. All of them having close to a 50/50 kick to handball ratio. Therefore statistically they're all around the same standard.

CAUTION: SWIFT MAN LOVE INCOMING.

Also Swift averaged 22 possessions after he came back in round 17 too... Over his 10 games he still averaged 18 disposalsfrom 66% gametime as opposed to 23 from Houlihan's 80% gametime.

Don't get me wrong, I rate all the above players quite highly.. I'm just saying with some confidence and a full pre-season Swift is going to be the guy we want kicking the ball.

Houlihan's problem is he tends to freak out in the forward 50. Kicked 1.8 in his career. This might change in time but Nicoski still freaks after all this time.

Swift on the other hand is much more capable around the goals.
Accurate field kicking is important but I having a wingman who can't kick goals on the run is a worry.

Let's hope he can improve his goal kicking because he's a lively type.

Waters, Glass, Bones
Hurn, Brown, Butler
Rosa, Selwood, Masten
LeCras, Kennedy, Embley
Naitanui, Lynch, McKinley

Cox, Priddis, Kerr

Swift, McKenzie, Shuey, Ebert

i.e. 2010=WCE in top bracket

Our Next Flag

Do you think we can win another flag with OUR CURRENT LIST? If so, when?

I do. In fact, im sure its a matter of WHEN not IF.

We have some fantastic players, with many of them yet to reach their potential. I believe we can make a stronger side then the one that took us to the 05'/06' grand finals. We are developing a defence and midfield that is more balanced with a greater depth, and i think we finally have a potent forward line in the making (never one of WC's strengths, historically). LeCras and Kennedy are AA material, Notte, Wilson and Brown look the goods, and there's the chance of drafting Butcher for a FF or using Jetta are on the crumb.

Im excited!

This tread has probably been done before, but its the offseason, i think its worth discussing.:thumbsu:

Re: Our Next Flag

When we're back up in contention I think we'll be up there for longer than 2005/06, because we're building a more even team.

Agree with CK, 2012 onwards should be our time. 2010/11 will be hopefully be similar to our 2002-04 seasons; young team learning how to win away, then learning how to win finals whilst losing our older premiership stars.

You'd think our only remaining premiership players will be Kerr, Butler, Waters and Selwood by then.

Re: Our Next Flag

Not to be pedantic (ok, being very pedantic...) but the only way to win a premiership with OUR CURRENT LIST is to win one this year :p Otherwise our 'list' will be different. Of course, we may well (and hopefully will) win a premiership with players currently ON our list, though I still imagine the top 1-2 players from the next draft or 2 will be in that team.

Carry on.
