i said about 3 weeks ago, that with melbournes last 4 games that they wont make top 4 and people laughed. atm, its looking like a BIG possibility with carlton at optus that wont be a walkover win, then having to travel west to play WC who quite possibly could be playing for a finals place

Think you might have over-rated your team just a bit ?

Please note that not all of us on here were being cocky pricks. The views of the lunatic fringe of our support on here certainly don't represent the rest of us.

It dosent really matter what happens for the rest of the year because we r going to get a lot of positives for next year. And apart from Brisbane Port Adelaide we r just as good as anyone. And to win the Grand final u have to be up there for a number of years which will look to do. And people say that melb supportes have been mouthing of so have geelong supportes i just hope we play them in finals and will see who is laughing then. But so far it has benn a gret year for the dees so go DEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

What happend to Yze_Magic

well for it to be a great year, u need to make an impact in finals, which im sure melbourne will do. however, there are still 2 rounds and possibly a lengthy finals campaign so why would you be looking to positives for next year already??

i see melbourne, geelong and st. kilda all similar as they are thereabouts but not quite there yet, sure we've had a few injuries, and a few more to add to the list from tonight alone, however many of us have got a bit ahead of ourselves, i believe the only teams primed for a premiership is port and brisbane, however it's not uncommon for teams to 'sneak' a flag and when you're up there and things fall your way anything can happen (see adelaide 97-98), but i believe we are more suited for a tilt in 2005 or 2006, as are the saints and geelong, however we will need to take our chances then (or maybe even this year if things pick up come september) or else other teams will be where we are now, and may pinch a flag in the process

even if we win the flag this year, i wont be saying we were the best team in the comp, that's for sure.. but that's footy and you got to take your chance when it's there, the best team (talent, determination, experience etc) is not assured of a premiership in this day & age that's for sure

The Dees were pathetic and soft last night. The form slump has come at the wrong time of the year for them. It will be hard for them to regain composure for the finals which will be a lot tougher - especially since they have limited finals experience.

Duly noted and acknowledged. You and a couple of others have been ships of sanity in a sea of stupidity on this subject.

Swans played well last night especially considering what has happened in the last week, the result is a fitting tribute to a great clubman. We just weren't good enough.
Sitting 5th is probably a fairer indication of where we are at atm, but no matter what happens for the rest of the year the team has exceeded my expectations of what I thought they would achieve.
Virtually everyone picked them to be bottom four (me included ;) ) but they have played extremely well at a time when we financially desperately needed it. There are also good signs for the future with some young players like Rivers, Miller, Davey, Thompson, McLean and Bell looked pretty good at times last night, he showed he will be a good player in the future.
Of course I'm dissapointed that they lost but let me just say that I'm alot happier now than at the same stage last year.

Sydney would probably have beaten anyone last night. One thing is for sure - the Demon supporters are a cut above the other teams supporters. They seemed pretty civilised and reminded me a lot of Sydney supporters up in Sydney.

They are normally sipping a red by the fire at some snow chalet this time of year. The fact that they are like a Sydney crowd of theatre goers is about all that needs to be said.

Things are looking better than 11 other clubs. Two weeks ago things were very rosy, now they are not. A month or two ago the Saints were written off, now they are back on the list. At the start of the year, Geelong was written off, now they are considered contenders. Fact is, form fluctuates throughout the year as all teams have experienced, currently Melbourne isn't in the best form and consequently we are being written off. I do not believe we are capable of winning the premiership, because frankly I don't think we can beat Brisbane. But you never know.

Also, like Supermercato said, it's unfortunate that some 'Melbourne' supporters on here give the rest of us a bad name.

Been saying that for months. Whoever finishes 8th will be planning income from at least two finals.

have a look at the last time the Demons lost an Elimination Final, then feel free to edit your post

2 Finals minumum for the Demons, 3 is more likely

We're crap, yet we beat your mob by 5 goals in atrocious conditions.

Hmmm.....

A) Hooper never said his team were anything special

B) Hawthorn beat Melbourne, does that make them a better team?
