Pretty fair draw in the paper yesterday, whoever does the draw in the Hume League seems to be able to pen a reasonably fair and equitable one for most teams. I would think most teams would be supportive of a seeded draw, i.e teams that finish high on the ladder in the previous year, get a hard draw the following year.
If you allocate points for each team based on where they finished last year, i.e Jindera 1, Holbrook 2 etc, and then adding up the points of the teams you only play once, it should give a fair picture of the ranking of each teams draw, where the highest number of points is the hardest.
So Jindera play once: RWT (8), Magpies (11), Walla (13), CDHBU (12), Crows (10), Lockhart (7) - giving Jindera a total of 61.
Similarly, Holbrook play these sides once: Osborne (9), RWT (8), Magpies (11), Walla (13), CDHBU (12), Crows (10) - Total 63.
Others, ranked by draw and where they finished last year in brackets:
3. Henty 58 (6)
4. Culcairn 57 (3)
5. Howlong 52 (5)
6. BB Saints 49 (4)
7. Lockhart 42 (7)
8. Osborne 38 (9)
9. Crows 30 (10)
10. RWT 26 (8)
11. Magpies 25 (11)
12. CDHBU 24 (12)
13. Walla 21 (13)

Pretty good job I thought, maybe Henty a bit stiff and RWT get a comfy draw but otherwise most clubs wouldn't have too much to complain about.

someone had abit of spare time 2day.
but nah makes sense..the only think that is abit off.. bb saints have 3 away games in a row. makes up later on thou with a couple of 2 home games in a row.

we're happy with the draw, all the top teams from last year at home at some stage which will help with gate receipts. No trip to Lockhart or Osborne. the only down side is the league has taken away both sets of long weekends.

NOP, are you guys worried with the amount of losses you guys have encountered? Storey, Hilton, Lezius, Duel, K Garland, Cassidy, Wilson. Rumours have it that Mcpherson and Castles are heading up to Tumba, and Brad Preston has apparently been shopping around and may be going to the magpies. Even with a few good recruits, The dogs may fall right back to the pack.

WOW those are some big names and alot of players to exit one side..But lets not forget they did win the flag in the twos, so the depth is there! Unless of course they have lost alot of 2nds players as well. This off season has been very quiet for all clubs, not too much movement except from the maggies.

Surely clubs are just keeping their signings in house at this stage??? i havent even heard a whisper from the likes of BB, RW, and billabong.
MM have been throwing a bit of coin at players to try to get them across the line. Have heard there has been some massive numbers at training for the likes of some O&M clubs, maybe clubs should start going to their training session to get the scraps??

o &m clubs having heaps at training doesnt mean much thou.. some people go to there training before and bit after xmas to have a head start for when there pre-season starts..
but maggpies could be in a spot of trouble, if they dont get the ball moving.
any truth to the rumour about perri going there?

the two trents trained this week so that couldn't be further from the truth. Brad is just doing a Brad which he does every year at this time, if he goes he goes disappointing yes replaceable yes. The rest we have lost which is disappointing but it will give others an opportunity. At this stage we will only have 1 or 2 over the age of 30 in the side, how that will reflect in big games remains to be seen.
Forgot to add Cal Mcclay to the osborne list of gains. Any news on others even i am sick of talking about us. Hope everyone has a safe xmas and new years, and look forward to a massive 2012!!!

Some will say Storey (bb) other's will say Bradshaw (howlong) i will say Angus McDiarmond (culcairn).

Bradshaw wasn't in the top 5 last year so why would he be the best now. Mcdiarmond went missing during the finals I would think it would be between Storey (BB) and Cal Mcclay from Osborne. Both have won league medal with Mcclay also having a o&m premiership to his name.

Any news from the Henty camp? They would have to recruit heavily just to replace their losses, hard to see them being a contender

you would think McClay will become the dominent big man of the comp. Storey probably wasn't as dominent as he was in 2010, plus we seen the emergence of the Big Red Headed moose knuckle (B garland) during the later part of the season including the finals.

Its not that Storey wasn't as dominant last year, i would more so say he didnt have the midfield support that he had in 2010. Being that we didnt have Guest for over half the season and Schilg was also not there. He still took out our B&F and I agree with the Bradshaw comment... Completely over rated IMO based off what i saw this season.

McClay is a very good ruck men but has had a lot of knee troubles over the last couple of seasons. It would certainly come down to Storey and McClay going into next season. That will be one match up that i wouldn't want to miss.

Who are the Jindera footballers that have signed with Yackandandah? Heard a Preston was one.

Trent Castles has signed with Yackandandah for a few $$ short of 3 zero's. (Huge money) He is attempting to take a few with him however the players that he has approached and that have agreed to go have all recently signed new contarcts with Jindera. The club will take a strong stance with these other players. These players were in the bottom half of our senior list in the 20-30 bracket and spent large periods in the 2's. Trent will leave a masssive hole but everyone is replaceable.

If he has indeed signed for that amount, well played to him and a big "what the hell are you thinking Yack?". Good player but close to 1k a game come on. Has he had trouble fitting in at clubs? This would have to be his 4th or 5th club in the last 6 years???

Sounds like Jindera wont be inviting him to any past player reunions in the near future NOP?;) Looks like Jindera are getting a taste of the same medicine that they've dealt to other clubs in the area with everyone having a crack at poaching their list. I'm sure the same will happen to clubs like Thurgoona/Culcairn/Howlong, there is only so much $$$ to go around and only so many blokes will play for the jumper.

Didn't half of Culcairn already go to Thurgoona.

Wouldnt think he would be worth that type of coin at all.... But some clubs need to throw big money around to sign a few players...

NOP- Would you want players to remain at your club even though they are keen to go somewhere else?????

True, but didn't Cul raid Murray Magpies:confused::confused::confused: I'd love to know where these clubs get their money printed and can i have a share?:D

Not too sure if the MM guys were chasing big coin or just looking to win a few games? As they didnt have a coach until very late and once someone starts jumping ship like that its hard to plug the hole up...

BB have been very quiet again this year in terms of recruiting, unless the coaches are keeping things very close their chest on who they have gotten across the line. ????

Dont think Cul raided magpies at all. At the time they didnt have a coach, and do you blame them for leaving? They were probably getting sick of losing most weeks. Love the way people get on here and assume all the top clubs spend huge money ( Jindera,Cul, Howlong etc). Some guys actually play for the jumper and less coin to be in a successful side. I bet if you got your hands on the treasurers report from some clubs that missed finals, you would be surprised of the amount of money they spend compared to other clubs. I bet RW tigers spent a shit load more than half the sides that finished in the top 6. How long has the coach been there? Maybe time for a change. Has not achieved much at all. Someone out there must really like him.:p
