I was going to ask the same question reggie.
As a Power supporter looking from afar, face value has that as a very impressive (and long-awaited) win for CDHBU.
Was anyone there who can summarise the game?

they were impressive and have defiently improved.
not taking away from them, but we went in young and missing storres for the week showed it. him coming back this week allows the blokes who replaced him (who done great) back to there normal positions.
the final score doesnt reflect on the game itself. kicked away in the last part of the 4 qtr, with some flukey goals.

Thanks HBG.
When a team hasn't won for a while and gets their tails up, things like that can happen. Hopefully the Power can keep going and be more competitive this season. I suppose we'll find out for sure against Osborne this week, who look red hot again by Saturday's results.
Regardless, it looks like nobody will beat Howlong except themselves.

maybe... 3 things i learnt from round 1.
1. Daniel bradshaw is 1 big unit. had one umpire inparticular in awe of him. ( even to the point he said himself he was getting looked after)
2. albury based clubs should take note of the wagga paper who has been pumping lockhart up. saturdays result was not a total surprise.
3. this years comp is wide open...

As an observer of Friday's game, i thought Jindera were pretty good. Had alot of young kids playing, and i know Daniel and Darren kicked bags, but Jindera were without a couple of their key big backman. That Murphy is a bullet and Darren would of found it a little harder against him, then Blomley (no disrespect to Blomely, but he aint no fullback).
Howlong's backline still looks iffy. That Murray tore em a new one. That kid is a freak.

I was an observer of todays game between Henty and Jindera...wow how the mighty have fallen,Jindera understandably are a mere shadow of their premiership side of last year and it could well be a very long year at the 'kennel'...hard to get a guage on Henty,it was merely a training run due to the lack of opposition. One very noticable from today was Jindera's arrogance of previous season's has evaporated. The wheel certainly has turned full circle.

I think the big thing is the lack of depth, which they obviously had in previous years. With Kilmartin, Mclaren and Stevenson pulling out of their selected side along with Murpy and Weldon still absent, I think they were just streched a little bit. Taking nothing away from Henty as I think they will be good this year, however I think with their best 21 on the park Jindera will win their fair share of games!!!

There was a few interesting results from all leagues this weekend.
Walla WINNING against RW.. Great Game, Great effort boys!! Young Green grass hoppers are coming :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::D

looking at the results, Jindera were SMASHED! a few missing players shouldnt result in a massive blow out like it did. But i agree they do not have the depth of previous years. The finals race is WIDE open this year boys.

Other interesting results - Myrtleford beating Albury in the O&M.... What The!!!!:eek::eek:

depends on the quality of those players missing and how many there was.

Will the RWT coach survive ? Even the locals don't want to play for their own club now.

Gee I think you're over reacting a fraction here... From all reports RW were light on big men halfway thru the game. Surely anyone as committed as Gilly will not be sacked after Rd 2.....
Have you got names of these "locals".?
I have a feeling Walla will be a lot more than nuisance value this year...

Watched Holbrook v howlong on the weekend, very fast paced game and an arm wrestle all day. Game was broken by howlong at start of 4th when they kicked 3 goals in first 5 mins, then held that margin. Thought Holbrook backs won the battle other than that, especially lachie trethowan who got the better of Darren Bradshaw. Breen kicked 1.7 which hurt the brookers but game could have really gone either way. Brookers now have Henty and jindera to the break and wouldnt want to be 0-4 at the first bye, especially with cul straight after.

Yeah interesting point. Shows you how much the draw plays a part in the overall Hume League season. Still unsure the draw works the way it is at the minute myself.

Good point Big Al. Had a quick look at the draw this morning, Jindera has the bye this week then Holbrook & Culcairn, then BB in round 6. And with the Brookers playing Henty, Jindera and Cul, with a Bye in the middle, we could be left in the almost unbelievable situation that last seasons grand finalists may only have 1 win BETWEEN THEM after 6 rounds ! You could almost go as far as saying that if that turns out to be the case a spot in the final 6 is pretty much shut out to both those teams as they would have to win every game for the rest of the season.
If a weeks a long time in football then 6 months is a dead set eternity !!

Draw is certainly not perfect but unless everyone plays everyone twice then this is probably the fairest way to go,put your thinking cap on FP and come up with a better system.Osborne and Lockhart will benefit from the draw but neither made the six last year,so no different to last year when Holbrook were supposed to have benefitted from a weak draw but come finals time they proved to be the real deal.

The issue I believe is not with the teams that make the finals themselves... Teams that finish 5th or 6th rarely win Premierships. I think Lockhart late 90's maybe be last.
The issue I believe is ladder position of the final 6. the seeded draw allowed Holbrook last year & BB the year before to get a VITAL top 2 spot in a terrible Top 6 finals series setup where the top 2 get a double-double chance.
Having said that, on the other side of the coin, some coaches will subscribe to the theory that continuity is best.
I personally think the seeded draw would work perfectly in a top 5 system....!!! Where the best 3 sides if the year get a double chance

Didn't get out to the game, but have talked to a few blokes who went to watch Culcairn and Lockhart, and they were saying it was one of the best games of country footy they have seen in a while. Tough contests, neither side getting away, went down to the final seconds. They reckon Lockhart will be a real chance for top 2, with some big boys and some skillful players, and that campbell is a gun. Did anyone see the game?

I was at the game and yes it was an absolute cracker!! Even the umpires were serviceable:thumbsu:. Lockhart a real chance at a top 2 with their draw, they have a good mix of speed and skill added with some big bodies. Think its going to turn out to be a very interesting year with Howlong being raging flag favourites but i dont think its a forgone conclusion!

Hey guys sorry of this is a bit spammy but we have a fantasy football board here on bigfooty. We are running a State of Origin competition and NSW/ACT need around 4-5 posters to get a team to run. So I'm just asking if anyone would like to join up. The comp will last a couple of weeks and then if you enjoy it you may want to join a club. Please get back to me asap or PM me with any questions.

Btw a local poster, no_orange_peeler is involved in the NSW team. Just thought you guys might like to know.

Who would have thought that 3 rounds into the season and the top 4 sides from last year would have a combined win tally of 2

Went out and watched game yeah it was a cracker! Campbell is a gun was bog in rep game last year, a very silky player. Cerato never played in that game he is a gun too with a lethal kick. If Marlow, Beckmans, Johnson and Wooden stay right they will go very close to taking a flag back to the Hart!!!
