Any games over the long weekend up there in the hume league?

Holbrook V Jindera
Murray Magpies V BB Saints
Osborne V Culcairn
Walla V Lockhart
Howlong V Henty
Rand Walbundrie Tigers – Bye

Couple of blockbusters there Slick, Osborne v Culcairn, Howlong v Henty are big ones, but what about the clash of the titans at Urana Rd, Maggies & Saints.

Is the Osborne v Cul game at Osborne or Cul. Hopefully at Cul as I'd imagine they would get a bigger gate as with no Tallangatta footy on that weekend they may pick up a few more spectators.

Assume it's at Osborne, as they are named first in the draw, and Osborne play away this week and Cul are at home.

I agree STP , because I have played in the woollen Hawks jumpers and the tight plain brown shorts, However if we are only playing for a nice tracksuit or a lightweight guernsey then we will not playing for the right reasons . We need to encourage the players , that they will be playing with the best players in the league and that the standard of Football will be invaluable .

Well said oto. I too was fortunate enough to be a part of rep footy (many years ago) and must say that it was a great experience. Footballers need to forget about the almighty dollar & the fancy uniforms & take interleague footy for what it is. An opportunity to represent your league with pride, to play along side the best and compete against quality opposition. oh yeah, it also makes for great stories for the kids & grandkids.

So what's the problem with getting the best side to play, is it the players who don't want to, or the clubs not letting their players play ? It's a real shame to see an undermanned League Rep sided get belted by another and the result not be representative of the relative strength of the Leagues (i.e TDFL beating O&K by 20 goals last year). Can understand why the O&K does not want to play this year, because unless players & clubs commit to the concept, it does a lot of damage to your League, especially if the two Leagues are in direct competition to recruit players. The TDFL went about it well last year, with the League Exec & coach gaining committment from club presidents that they will support the concept, and explaining the benefits in playing (& winning) Interleague footy. So I ask, is the problem with the players, the clubs or the Leagues ?

I think it is the clubs and leagues. Down in Sunraysia,we have had a fairly poor run as far as inter-leauge goes, dropping down to div 4. Then the SFL got serious and appointed a well respected coach (in Tony Hickey) who was very keen for success. Players are suspended if they don't turn up to the training and make themself available to play (unless they are over a certain age or fair dinkum injured). The clubs have got right behind it and now we have moved up to div 3 and had a win in the one off game this year. It seems players are keen (no extra cash is involved) and proud to be playing and I would say alot of it come from the respect that the coach has as well as the support of the clubs, however the hard line position taken by the League has ment players have little option. Once there is a culture of wanting to play and win (which will be developed over time as the younger players come through wanting to play) then it will be a thing that people aspire to.

I went to the Holbrook game and they were good, they must be very up and down from week to week. Edmunds was on fire, forwards looked good (Hickey and Brain especially), Hillary played really well on a wing (kicked 4 I think) and Buckle was very good at CHB. Kids went hard at the footy, seemed to want it more than Lockhart

On that, I heard from a very very reliable source that a former premiership hero has dusted off the football boots and will be looking to make a comeback with the Brookers within the next week or so. A very handy addition to the side! :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

With Aylmore and H. Lanyon (Hayden I think) going inot Holbrooks backline would it make much difference??? I've seen Aylmore play and he will be very handy but is Lanyon any good???? I've Never seen him play, to be honest I've never heard of him but I believe he has signed on with the Brookers and they think he could be a gun????

Jack Parker wouldn't be on the prowl again would he? Now it's cooling off a bit has he got keen, he does love training in the colder winter months :D.

I think it's safe to assume it aint Jack Big Al!

Don't worry it was a long pitched assumption AD

Hickey out for a while, will leave a big hole in the Brookers fwd line, fabulous Willy B is going to have to step right up now, especially after being chaired off after last weeks win.Curious how the Henty and Cul boys fired at the Star on Sunday following Chow's ambitious shout of about 25 yager-bombs, no doubt some carnage there. Seems young Jayden has slipped right into gear with the boys :thumbsu: :D

Was Hickey carrying Willy Bunyan off Big Al? :D

Hayden Lanyon has been a star with Wahgunyah in the Coreen league at centre half back for the past three years, making the CDFL team of the year on each occasion.
He started this year with the Tigers up forward and kicked a couple of bags of goals before being injured.
His work commitments have taken him to Holbrook and he will be a good pick-up for them.
