Well fellas sorry i havent been about lately, ive had a bit on my plate. The lions have made me do a complete backflip and i do think they are genuine contenders now, although the next 4 or 5 weeks will tell the story, while drilling for water i think they must have hit oil, would be costing them a squillion to get them all on the park.Osborne ,Howlong and my boys are the 3 other genuine contenders, with the Tigers to cause some headaches.I still rate the Spiders very highly,so will be very interesting when we play them next week and the Cats play the Lions.

tips this week
Culcairn to thump Holbrook
Jindera to beat Murray Magpies in a close one
Osborne to thump Lockhart
Walla to upset Henty up at Henty
RW to upset Howlong as well

Anyone have a match report on the R/W v Howlong clash I was told it was very spiteful with a number of send offs including Dickins breaking his hand in a fight. Can anyone verify this ?

You got the close right, but it was the Pies that got up by 2 points for their first HFL win.

Benched, you are correct - there were 3 yellow cards, all to Walbundrie players (including the coach), and two of them were reported.
All of the talk last week was about the magpies having some dirty players, but i dont think i have seen anything as bad as the Walbundrie team on the weekend. It was not the whole team, but several of their players, especially Osborne & Dicketts, were throwing punchs at every contest. Quite a few connected, one resulting in a fairly decent brawl.

I went to the Holbrook game and they were good, they must be very up and down from week to week. Edmunds was on fire, forwards looked good (Hickey and Brain especially), Hillary played really well on a wing (kicked 4 I think) and Buckle was very good at CHB. Kids went hard at the footy, seemed to want it more than Lockhart

How is Des Royal going for the brookers?

What's that all about??
It (thuggery) didn't used to be a cultural thing at Piney. The locals are generally (very!) welcoming, although I have heard of and witnessed some internal ructions at times :)

Generally not related to footy I hasten to add.

Hi guys, I've only seen a couple of Hume League games so far this year, one of them was in the early rounds when Jindera had a good win. What if anything has happened there???? I thought they looked ok but they'd be disappointed in last weeks loss. Was it injuries, just a bad day or have the Magpies improved a bit after the first few rounds?

Does anyone know if both Osborne and Culcairn will be at full strength for this weekends blockbuster clash? I heard that Gilson will most likely not play for culcairn this weekend, which would give osborne a massive advantage! Is anyone missing for osborne?

It won't matter if Gilson plays, I'll have Osborne by over 10 goals. In saying that I'm going out for a look, hopefully someone can push Osborne soon and maybe Culcairn is the side?

There's no other games out that way worth a look this weekend is there?

yer there was a few injuries, players out and players playing with injuries two of which couldnt finish the game, but thats just making an excuse for our poor preformance. magpies were just better than us on the day. :(

I would say Cul may win if Osbornes outs noted into todays Border Mail are correct. The other big game maybe Henty V Howlong (3rd vs 4th).

Does Benny Cain still play for Howlong? He would of sorted a few of those walbundrie morons out.

I think Cul are in with a big chance Osborne missing some very handy players.. Who is going to play ruck for them with Gleeson and Powell both not playing... But Osborne do have the depth in there 2nds so will be a very interesting match to go see

Have good mail culcairn have key player from last year seniors returning in the 2nds this week, will need a bit of work on fitness though to play seniors. Will K Bahr run with Gilson? I hear Gilsons a gun.

Unfortunately Ben Cain and a few of the other so called 'enforcers' are not playing at Howlong any longer. I would guess that if they were, Osborne and co. may have thought twice before swinging their fists around. Whether they were trying to bait Howlong or not due their previous reputation i dont know, but these days they dont have anyone that would be all that keen to start a scrap.

Notice farrer league under 24s ruckman,? Tim Willis. From a few reports on the rep game, i heard he was one of the best players on the ground.
Guess Mark sanson would be kicking himself. Henty dont have a genuine ruckman, sanson let Willis slip.
Apparently Sanson told Willis he wasnt good enough to play senior Football. And was just lucky to be in hentys senior side last year.
Maybe time for sanson to eat his words on that one.
Rivcol better sign him up for next year Before Matt Klemke trys to steal him from the Pigs.:D

Did you have a look at this game?
What are your thoughts.

Hornet, was told by a bloke that was there (Muzza) that Osborne did not score a goal until the 3rd qtr and Cul's defence was ruthless. Hart beaten all day (very rare) and the Cul boys were paid a visit by the Cats President(Mr O'Connell?) in the rooms after the game and he told them that was the biggest defeat he had witnessed on their home game in the entire time he had been at the club.
they well and truly deserve their place at the top of the ladder now!
dallas lodge continues to dominate with another 3 goals, and with Chad Willis to come back, there's another 3 or 4 goals.

Not wanting to take much away from Culcairn's win, but i dont know that too much could be taken from this result. Word is that Osborne had 9 of their top 21 out as they were attending a wedding. The nine included the Gooden brothers & Hayden Gleeson meaning that their centre line was depleted. But, as i said take nothing from Culcairn, they were the best on the day.
