Walla assistant coach from last yr Tom Stead has walked out back to Thurgoona. He reportedly was very happy with the people at walla and the blokes he played with but was rather disgruntled at the consistently poor off field management. He said first asked to re sign halfway through the year and they kept saying they want him but kept putting it off. Word from a few people around the club is that the committee is a shambles. They have 23 on their committee!!!! No wonder there's no direction could u just imagine one of their meetings? Would be like a CWA get together lol

As for Sedgewick he has signed at Saints, so don't know where the Thurgoona talk came from

Even the locals are going to neighbouring clubs because they cant stand the crap that people involved in the club talk.

Did I just read that sims ,tresise and some other goose were getting paid $800+ a game??? Surely blokes of that calibre can't be getting paid that,in my opinion blokes who have played 150+ senior ovens and Murray games are entitled to that, not some unfit/ordinary footballers,I know walla finds it hard to attract players but you can't be spending that sort of money on them blokes,no disrespect

Don't knock the Country Women's Association... They make a mean lamington!

Yo Local Dude. Can you confirm that you blokes have also signed Lance Swiftnall for this season, and he will be zero points as he had played a couple of junior games for Walbundrie back in the day? This would be an amazing coup and will be a perfect fit for your blokes to kick to. Are you doing any recruiting while you are up north?

Pep Tide you sound like your suffering a serious case of sour grapes mate.
Every post you write is whinging about Walla FC and money.
You actually haven't posted about anything else.... At all.
Possibly an ex player who didn't get what they wanted so you threw the toys out of the cot, or possibly an ex coach....
Either way your no longer there for a reason.
So move on.
If your so interested in how things are done at the Walla FC and how they are doing things, how's about you come down and share your advice....
If you already haven't been shown the door, which sounds like might be the case...

I like Frederick are close to some Walla people, I have never been at Walla, I am very happy with my club for 8 years. It amuses me for a club to pay huge money for a rookie coach, pay a non player assistant coach more than most club pay coaches, and bribe players to train. No not sour grapes, just relaying the thoughts of some of your loyal people. I wish them some success as they have been dealed a rough time the last few years. Better go so you can feed the cash cow and might see you round 9.

maybe a merger would of been the best option for walla to get bak to finals the way the competition is becoming more attractive due to money reasons it will take some cash and a good coach to get good players 2nd rate tdfl players wont cut it anymore. money talks now. good luck to walla but i think its gonna b a while b4 they

As someone who has been around the club the last 2 years, I disagree that a merger would be the best option. There is light at the end of the tunnel for Walla, it's up to the people in charge to see the right avenues and accept assistance from people who know how to get them there... The passion and commitment by people around the club is unquestioned and I really hope to see them start to climb up the ranks again. It's a long road, but if the right decisions are made and the right systems put in place, they can certainly bounce back.

Good luck to Walla, it's a hard road to get back but they will do it, no doubt. Especially while they have Justin 'Fevola' Carter running around. I'm not sure I have seen a bloke with such big shoulders as Walla's favourite son. Although there is talk of him joining the potentially newest franchise in the Hume League, The Gerogery Giants. Along with Brett Guest, Trent 'Goose/Eminem/Nigel/The Best Contested Chest mark in the Hume League' Cooper, Danny Williams, Dustin Boers, Brad Lodding and Tim 'Pig' Wong.

Also, some news out of the Holbrook camp, AB Mackinlay, Josh Jones, Hayden Wishart and Walbundrie's Bryce Swift still considering offers from the Hay footy club. With Will Heriot not only considering this move also, but also feilding offers from Albury, Wodonga Raiders, Wodonga, Brock Burrum and Goorambat. A very sought after player who plays like his nickname suggests, 'Mercury' because he slips through the opposition's fingers.

Well as insider do you (or the other local who posted they weren't happy where the club is but then deleted it) want to share ur honest thoughts on what the club needs to do to get back?

Surely you can't agree signing players from the equivalent club in another league and a coach that even that club didn't want is the answer? Or do you agree with it? Do you agree with the clubs handling of the steady debacle or do you think treating good players like that is the way forward?
(Especially like to hear gobbles thoughts cause ur football brain is highly regarded by many people and u have a strong business mind to I hear)

It'd be interesting to hear some honest open opinions on that not just defending and hiding under a rock whenever criticism comes and accusing people of holding club to ransom then backing down from that once more facts come like KeepOnTurning has been dishing up. How about some honest, open opinions out of you guys?

Reading all this about Walla is pretty sad for football.
The problem is they are paying average players like Drew Cameron 800 a game, & when they get in contact with an elite O&M player they are needing to offer them double, to get a chance.
To me in my opionion, they need a full clean out. Re-assess players payments mid yr & set a standard that is acceptable for the club & league.
But to recruit average players from an equally average club is dumb recruiting.
Each year, to some research into clubs & target 2 or 3 mates from a couple different clubs, players arnt going to go out there on their own.
They obviously have the money, fix the ground & the clubhouse to make the place look respectable.
Thought id throw in my two bobs worth seeing everyone else is.

I've just spent a couple of weeks in Darwin and watched a bit of there comp. Really good quality footy up there and a few Hume blokes gettin round. Any word on clubs looking to recruit from up that way for 2015?

From experience recruiting from there is dangerous. Moat southerners that go that way go back to original clubs. Most top end players don't seem to last especially when the teeth of winter hits.

Box, the rumour mill has been going into overdrive over the word that after your marathon career you may be making a return to footy? Possibly to either Richmond, alongside Jack Reiwoldt, or travelling back up to Jindera?
Local Dude, don't be too coy about Swiftnall, he will be the most dominant forward you guys will have. All the money to Canberra blokes may well be wasted if Swiftnall gets going this year. He doesn't mind a beer either I hear, so if the Piney put on a session each Saturday night for Lance and your brother, the club could convince him to stay for the rest of his illustrious career.
Some good news coming from the Walla camp with Matt Crawshaw knocking back and invitation to play for the Cootamundra Blues, and to stay playing for the Hoppers.

Less chance of Human Nature bringing out an album at christmas time then me playing footy again.

no canberra blokes will fit in the forward line if swiftnall keeps putting a keg a week away.

Ok I'll be honest my wife wont let me.........

NOP, we are all in the same boat there mate.

Swandive, I have read in his autobiography that Lance Swiftnall doesn't even like beer, he just consumes it in support of he local pubs. He is exceptionally considerate and selfless.

But you're right it saying no one else will fit in the forward line, it won't be long until Marmo will be back playing for Rand as well.
