Not bad first up effort.

Watched it specifically because McGuire wasn't on it feigning suprise when anyone complained that he went on about Collingwood too much.

Once they get rid of the McGuire homage over the next few shows, settle in, not talk over each other and get used to the new format, both Lyons and Brayshaws personality will come out and shine more.

Better for Newman to bounce off two compares as opposed to Mr Collingwood.

The players involvement seem a bit dated and need revamping somehow.

Much better effort without McGuire and his continual harping about one club and one club only.

15 groups of supporters will be happier, one group less happy.

Bad luck to the one group.

I'll give it a go for a couple of more weeks (or until League Teams comes back on Fox) :thumbsu:

I tend to agree.
-The host will become more relaxed.
-The players will get used to saying what they really think.
-There will be some actual football to talk about, i.e. form and teams going crap.
-The first episodes of Any Given Sunday weren't that flash, but picked up after a few shows.

Compared to the shows from previous years the new Footy Show is far, far better!
Lyon and Brayshaw were ok and will get better, Sam was Sam. I hope Trev gets some better gags, he could be the weakest link.
7 of us watched it last night and all thought it was a better show than the tired old Collingwood advert that masqueraded as the Footy Show.
Last year we thought that in its current format it would last another year or 2, but with its new format it's just got itself a new lease on life.
Get rid of most of the variety show rubbish along with the non footy stuff and get more FOOTBALL in it!

I enjoyed that it took them 20-30 mins to mention their major sponsor and i think that was about it for the rest of the night. Unlike Eddie who would have already mentioned all the major sponsor 5 times by the 20th minute mark.

Also Collingwood being treated as just one of the other 16 teams and not the only team in the afl was great to watch. No one harping on about Collingwood as Ed used to do.

And he had the hide to blame Sam and Trev in his slef absorbed tribute show that it was them that mentioned collingwood the most.

And suprise suprise, the new formats biggest critics are Collingwood fans. Go figure eh. :D

Have you actually ever watched the show? It's always been a football based variety show........

Certainly, since day 1 actually. Although not every show I admit.

The last few years it has become more of a variety show then a footy show.

Last night it was the other way around, there was no singers or bands, no international celebrity or actors out here to promote something.

Hopefully they keep it like that.
