Today I found myself selecting not one, but two Poort players in my DT side. Kane Cornes is self explanatory, but I also picked up Jackson Trengove, which has left a funny feeling inside me. Should I feel dirty that I actually rate one of your players (and I don't rate Kornes, I just know he is a DT ****)?

Phil Davis is a far better CHB. No nonesense and gets the job done. Trengove is all huff and puff. Gives away more frees. Both are good, Davis is just better. Gets more of the ball too which is good for stat based games. Chappy is too busy stealing all of Trengove's cheap possies. Phil is better value.

Shame on you. Or do you have Kepler Bradley:eek: and want to be able to swap Ruck/Defenders???

Trengove will be an All Australian CHB in 2 years time.

Unfortunately, from a DT perspective, i dont see him getting massive stats. So depends how much he cost you ( i dont play DT so dont know what he is worth).

On the positive for you, i think he'll play every game this year and may even have a bit of a run the ruck every now and then.

Heard the same thing about Carlile a few years ago.

He has the potential to be AA, not a certainty. In terms of getting the job done Davis is as, maybe more, effective.

Need to remember that the Power backline conceded 253 more points than Adelaide's. Bear in mind the most attacking side average 114 ppg last year.

If you're looking purely at Statistics for DT.... yeah id agree Davis will pick up more.

After all, we keep hearing he will be doing the "Nathan Bock Role" this year. And lets face it, Bock got a lot of his posessions loose across half back - often involved in that Crow switch of play. Hence you can assume Davis will be doing the same.

But in terms of a traditional, agressive defender who will hit you hard and stick with you all game, Trengove is your man.

Case in point. I think Trengove (197cm/99kg) could stand forwards like Riewoldt/Franklin and hold his own one on one. But i cant see Davis (195cm/85kg) being able to do such a job. He relies on the defenders around him to help him bring the ball to the ground. One one he would get slaughtered by those blokes, but Trengove has both the strength, mongrel and pace to go with them.

The best defender against Franklin in 2008-2009 was Nathan Bock. All 193cm/93kg of him.In 2008 Clarko had to move Buddy to HB to get Buddy into the game in a game that was close for three quarters. Moving Buddy from Bock was the difference. I heard Buddy may play more up the ground this year. If he does he may win a Charlie.

There is a fair bit of "Bockness" in Davis. Although I cant see Davis playing on him too much man on man this weekend. A team approach will be taken. Davis has a bit of weight to be put on.

Both are good, I just think Davis will be better. He adds another dimension in his ability to move the ball and cleaness of disposal. As well as his spoiling ability. Which Trengove has the edge.

They are different types of players, playing in different defensive systems. One is one of the better systems, the other one of the worst. But of course Primus will fix that.

Hahahahaha you're ****ing dreamin' mate. The bloke is as slow as a wet week and can't kick to save himself. There's gonna have to be some drastic improvement for him to even be considered.

His new club might have full time coaches
Because of our debt situation, PAFC is:
- not able to expand our full-time coaching panel

If you haven’t worked it out yet you should have a Port player in every position. Trengove in the Ruck is a good pick.

Got your tin cup yet. Every bit helps

Because of our debt situation, PAFC is:
- ranked in the bottom quartile of the competition in total football department expenditure at $14.9million in 2010, which poignantly is $4.1million less than 2010 Premiers Collingwood and at least $1.5million less than the industry standard
- not able to pay 100% of the salary cap, critical for player retention - even more critical when free agency is introduced in 2013
- not able to expand our recruiting network, employ a full-time List Manager or boost player welfare management. Already, our resources are well below the rest of the competition
- not able to expand our full-time coaching panel

BACCS, from what I've heard you don't often come in anything.

Good footballer, but seriously youve got more chance of getting off the dole than Jack of being AA.

CHB is probably the easiest position to get an A-A selection in, there aren't a whole heap of quality ones going around these days. Harry Taylor got in last year FFS, you can't tell me Trengove isn't good enough to overtake Taylor.

What position did Chad Cornes get AA for?
