I hope the Dogs are really sick

Shame about the virus. A fit and firing Bulldogs might have only lost by 70-80 points.

In all seriousness Geelong simply showed that their best is a mile above that of any other side. To see them dismantle a top 4 team and supposed contender in the manner that they did sent chills down my spine.

Hate to admit it but here is a Pies supporter who is right on the money. Geelong were simply awesome tonight and virus or no virus, we just weren't good enough.

Yeah, but we had a younger team than Geelong. So we'll be better than them in a couple of years.

Case in point.

Inability to accept reality: some teams like North are blooding loads of youngsters and will be premiership threats very soon.

The Dogs are a middle of the road bunch who get shown up against quality with monotonous regularity.

You'll bottom out again soon and then build another semi final winning list.

If it is the actual flu, somebody should sack the medical staff at the Dogs. Flu vaccine is so effective these days, there is no excuse for any professional sports-person to ever get the flu. Dogs with the flu would imply they don't have a vaccination program.

It's a viral infection.

Effects the bronchal region. Common side-effects are shortness of breathe and build up of fluid.

And yet Geelong had three teenagers playing with a combined game total of ten.

Who said that we are lacking talented youths?

Think you missed the sarcasm of his initial post. The comment was made to reflect the Norf fans who say that exact thing week in week out after getting pumped.

No excuses for our performance tonight. Time will tell if the flu really had much effect. I doubt we'll bounce back from this though.

Think you will find, it is bronchitis, which is worse than the flu. I have had it on and off again for over a year now. At one time they thought it was pneumonia before eventually classifying it as severe bronchitis. I could barely move.

I think the result will affect the club mentally, but they can bounce back. They have been up for a few months, only to be stopped by a bad viral infection. Never thought they would win the flag this year, but they won't bomb out over this.

When are you due back on our board for more brown nosing SLF you little Norf squib?

It would be interesting if they were to drop two of their most important players with a virus if they were just doing it as a fall back. But still, they are playing as if they have the AIDS virus.
Sorry mate, but SOFT.

W/O Ablett and Selwood they still would've dominated

As everyone is saying, hopefully, you blokes are actually terminal.

Still though, they got closer to the Cats than we will next week!

Cats' second quarter was the most ruthless I've seen this season. Pies are still favourites, but only very marginally after witnessing that mauling.

are you suggesting they inject themselves with the virus every time they play a contender?

Can't help but link this event with the unjust and cruel removal of acker. Clearly aker attacked them with a biological agent of some kind, probably one that targets women. It was very effective on the team. The virus just assumed the gathering of people in a circle to whinge and bitch over non issues was a group of women and it went to work. Can't blame it, even a human would be forgiven for thinking that's what was going on.

Just one drop in the refreshments provided at their leading teams meetings will ensure that anyone of importance is effected.

Aker is a very powerful man, this is just the beginning. You'll know when the next attack is under way, Shaun Higgins developing facial hair will be a tell tale sign.

Oh i also heard a rumour that he pissed in the cordial they provide at Leading teams meetings. Whilst this did not cause any further ailments, it was a nice touch to top of the operation. :thumbsu:

Vale the bulldogs!

The lesson is, you act like a bunch of whiney bitches, Teams like Geelong will treat you like one!

The virus is irrelevant. And whinier sides have won flags in the past. ;)

Anyone with an attention span longer than a gnat's would have remembered that the Dogs haven't played a really convincing game against a top team all year. They look brilliant when they can play the way they want to but have had trouble getting the game on their terms against good opposition. Add that to Geelong's strength and the determination they'd have added from last week's loss and it was always going to get ugly.

Has to be clear to everyone it's down to three this year. Not because of last night - premiership winners have ben well beaten even late season and bounced back often - but the Dogs' record this year has been all about thumping poorer sides and has flattered their chances when the other contenders have proved they can wrestle games back from quality opposition.

Yep - I've had it for about a month now & still not 100%. If they have only just got this infection they wont be bouncing back within a week thats for sure. The doctor prescribed all sorts of stuff to me - none of it seemed to work either.

I started training/exercising again about 5 days ago & it has been a real struggle.

As for the dogs that haven't got the virus yet ... i stress the word yet.

I'd like to see you guys taking on the best team of the past 3 years with an infection that hinders your ability to breathe. Obviously a 101 point thrashing is awful and I have no doubt we would have lost even at full strength, but I'm willing to put this game aside as a good experience for the likes of Wood, Moles, Roughy and Jones and move on to next week. We were always going to be 4th in line as favourites for the flag, I don't see how this loss has changed that.

Did not Eade say there were 4 or 5 players infected. Why did they play, if thats the case. Also, what happened to the other 18?

Dermott Brereton won a flag playing with broken ribs.

Anthony Stevens won one playing with a broken ankle.

The Dogs get a dose of the sniffles and get pumped in a home and away game.

I think this explains why one 1925 admission side lags so far behind the others in the premiership stakes.

You're comparing one player to eight or so players.

probably the worst performance of the year. Absolutely no chance of a flag this year, looks like the doggies have let their window of opportunity slip by once again

Agree, if you have any sort of virus you're basically f****d when it comes to a running game. I think that had a fair bit to do with the margin.
But there are far bigger issues at the doggies, like wtf game plan was that to play against the cats where you think you're better than them at corridor football?

I heard 8-12, but those others could have been fringe players. Still, 5 players out of 22 is a good percentage of your team, surely even you could tell the difference between playing a 3/4 strength team and a full strength team against Geelong. Unfortunately we're not good enough to carry 5 players against one of the best teams ever.

I'm sorry, but Cooney/Hudson/Harbrow compared to Jones/Roughy/Wood is a bit of a noticable difference. Like I said, we're not good enough to carry sick passengers against Geelong.

I won't go on about Brisbane's recent form, but I don't think you have any right to question how the Bulldogs are travelling right about now.
