Its all over - the drafts are done and dusted.

I'm not unhappy with our results.

We wanted a key backman - we got the best available. Supported him with a versatile and cheap player in Rawlings. Added two more players from the west, one ready to play and the other ready to step up. Added a potential goal kicker, a few kids.................plus we have a few exciting prospects in the ranks already that are expected to take the next step.

I reckon its a good mix and if the clubs analysis of the talent is correct we should be in a position to be a contender this year.

Well done to the club for having the balls to make big changes and whilst everyone wont agree with every change I think it is a good mix of new and old.

Geez - how long to the first game? I can't wait. Pity we have to wait for the Australian, I mean Commonwealth Games first. Come on season 2006!

Nice to read something positive gokangas.

I'm with ya..........bring on season 2006.

Bring on the Port game so we can re start our dominance over them, and regain some lost respect.

Bring on our new look defence. With a brick wall built to defend the lines, combined with our usual attacking flair and goal kicking options up front, we should be tough to knock off.

Bring on the new blokes. Give 'em all a shot early and may the best performers hold their spots in the 1's.

Our depth is much better than last year, in key positions especially, and we have a few kids who are hungry for a piece of NMFC success.

Take on all comers next year and I reckon we'll be alright.

GO YOU MIGHTY ROOS!!!

I wish I could share your optimism over Jonathon Hay, I reckon he's a dud but I'd be happy to be proved wrong. I'm happy with Rawlings and Green, but would of preferred Cupido to Thurley.

Hopefully we'll do at least as well as last season and if the Swans can pull off the flag we must be in with some chance next year.

Don't forget McConnell either DFJ. Another wildcard for us, not to mention the youngest blokes as well. It's exciting!

If we booted Lecras and picked Woey, it would have finished it off nicely. Always exciting to see new players rather than just new haircuts. I think the fact that no other club picked up any of our rejects justifies the decisions.

Thats a good point Nevbuster - none of our discards were even invited to train at another club according to the AFL's permission list. Vindicates the club's decision strongly.

But also poses the question of why they were on our list in the first place? We obviously saw something in them that no one else did.

On our drafting and trading, I am reasonably happy too. I would have preferred Woey to Thurley, would not have touched Whyman with a 40 foot poll and I would have looked to add another ruck option, but overall I think we did quite well.

Yeah i agree.....it seems like its a good blend and mix of pick ups this year - im looking forward to watching Green off half back - Hay (maybe it will mean Watt will play further up) and it will be very interesting how J.Rawlings goes.

I would also like to join in the chorus of excitement!!

2006 will mark my first Kangas game since the drubbing of Carlton in the final round of 2003 as I head back to Australia after 2 years here the UK next week.

Can't wait to see the boys running around again.

i also cant wait, we have a very strong backline this year and premiership teams always have good backlines lol

Good point YOTR. The fact that not one bloke we delisted was asked to train elsewhere at best means that we kept them one year too long or at worst means our list management sucks. Baird is the exception here IMO. He was a good insurance player to have and didn't play more games in 2005 due to our good run with injuries. The fact he overtook Perry for the spot in the 22 after Perry's promising Wiz Cup is a testament to Bairdy for not throwing in the towel.

Shore, Watson and for the risk of stating the obvious, the Sharvey/Davey fiasko are easily the biggest dissapointments.

Woey for Le Cras would be done in a heart beat if I was making decisions.
