In February, if you have offered me 15 wins and finishing fifth I would have taken it, we all would of.
But the Richmond fan circa 2013 is different.

We are battle hardened, we have had 30 years of character building tragedy, we have loved, and lost, and lost and lost. Above all the Richmond fan is a romantic, loyal, monogamist, we don't change religion just because the local priest is incompetent, we endure.

The good news is the bad days are over, at last. Win lose or draw I will be proud of the boys, for me, Sunday will be a celebration that we are back.

Having said that, it gladdens my heart that our club doesnt see it that way, it can't. We are now a professional organisation that has high expectaions. On that basis, and on the basis that we clearly have more talent, I expect us to win, and win well. I cant wait for the 95,000 fans at the MCG to cheer home our boys, I will be one of them. The tiger has stirred, look out.

Beautifully said. Whatever happens on Sunday I will be proud of every person at that club and every Tiger fan that has stuck around through the years of heart crushing failures.

You get the feeling that our season is nowhere near close to being finished yet after listening to how determined they all sound. The boys are confident and why not! We are actually good enough to compete with any of the other 7 teams when we are having a good day.

We are used of big games, big crowds. I can't see our boys being daunted by all this "Finals atmosphere".

Pretty much says it Jisha & blaisee agree with what you guys are saying....... and so it begins the resurgence of one of the most powerful VFL/AFL clubs there has been (i know I'm going out on a bit of a limb, but I'm just one of the true believers. There are tens of thousands of us).

I remember a few years ago now, blaisee , you had the belief this club was finally going somewhere with the right process and had quite the time on OER trying to inform the natives through some tough times.

Now we all get to see and enjoy the fruits of the current administration's work and how far it's taken us as a football club. :thumbsu:

The best thing about it is

It is only the beginning

At the start of the year I would have been very happy with making the finals. Now that we've one 15 games and playing the Tankers I won't be satisfied unless we win on Sunday. We now have something to lose which is awesome and makes me nervous at the same time.

Even the standard threads that would pop up at this time of the year have dissapeared.

Santana OHalphin- should we be interested?

Standards have been set, it seems players have a lot more to play for when they can lose their spot in a team each week (who would of thought it :p). Amazing depth and recruiting has developed quite a quick growth! Loving it :)

Our list could probably use another forward/ruck... wait, what?! :p

Playing the cheats makes this a must win, the goal posts have changed. When we dreamed of finals in March we were thinking of landing 7th or 8th and playing the Eagles or Freo at Subi. Not the old enemy at home.

Win or lose, I'll look back on the year with pride that the club has broken the drought, but it will take me a bit longer if we lose!

To put it all in perspective, I would be stoked if we beat the Blues on Sunday. To win one final agst our arch enemies will be gold (& black). Whatever happens after that will be valuable experience for our boys. That said, I am one of 60000+ members who is double anxiously waiting for Sunday!!!

LOL. Old habits are hard to break. Its great to read the delistees and know that they wont get their own thread on this board.

Mad monday this year was going into work and being furious that I had to wedge five days of faked endeavour between the now and being able to sit back like a slob and watch Sundays game.

It feels different this year. I just cant go back.

I agree with the posters above.

It just feels like relief to finally be there, in September. Nervous, but excited. The G will be packed of Richmond supporters, I have no doubt that we'll outnumber them.

Just calculated the amount of days I've been on BigFooty without a final (since Oct 7 2001) - 4,354. I feel like Newy. ;)

Great thread. I agree with it all and I just don't have anything original to add.

So proud. So nervous. Can barely function at work. Don't know what I'll do between the open training tomorrow morning and 3:20pm Sunday afternoon... Pace...

Feels good to be talking about finals instead of just looking forward to the draft!

WATiger86 ....... this I wholeheartedly agree with ...... 30 years of frustration and ridicule, very proud of what has been a very good and enjoyable year .... may it continue, but whenever it ends, it will be a content off season, with a highly anticipated 2014 ahead ....

For me although we can go further this year and Im confident of knocking over the Blues I was satisfied as soon as we could not mathematically miss the finals.

It's next year we have to prove ourselves a regular finals team, once that is achieved we may just add to our cabinet, it's nearly 40 years since we competed in back to back finals series.

Literally half my life ago was the last time we made the finals. Win, lose or draw - I couldn't be prouder of our boys and what we've achieved this season. I'll be there tomorrow roaring my guts out like the rest of the tiger army :thumbsu:

It's so exciting and I'm really proud of the way the club has turned EVERYTHING around . I'm really excited for all the supporters especially all you guys that have stuck thick and ridden every pub.

Lets hope we are all signing the song tomorrow!

I'm sure we will be.

Port's win over Collingwood is a bit of a wake up call. Although I am confident that we will win tomorrow, it just goes to show that the players have to be really switched on or anything can happen. I was initially disappointed that we were deprived of a home final against Port after Essendon were demoted but with the benefit of hindsight we might have dodged a bullet there.
