Injuries happen come and go.
All management of them to a better degree is welcome.

But I still think over time our biggest issue is why do players nearing 30 seem to reach the cliff and fall off?
That is an ongoing matter not resolved I'd suggest?
Its an interesting one that I think we all have worried about from time to time. 1st question would be is this a real phenomena and we would need so good quality analysis to find if it is and then ask is there anything we are doing as a club to cause that?

If the answer is positive thats when we need to look for a solution.

Correct
Because in reality this might similar to many clubs.
Need real data real analysis

What about 2010? Would he be a chance to return? Or does Bucks have too much say?
He specialized in training for burst type running. Pretty much the reason that the AFL brought in the interchange restrictions after our rotations skyrocketed. Wasn't effective at Carlton at all after he left us and as a result he's not at any AFL club now afaik.

In saying that, to me externally at least it looks like 30+ players are lasting longer and are better prepared both mentally and physically particularly in an endurance sense than say 15, 20 years ago

I was informed by a friend that knows Davoren, that he notified the club in late July that he was leaving at season's end. Has anybody else heard this?
Sounds like he's been feeding his mates the old 'nah I was already leaving anyway' line.

You claiming Roverjg doesn't have any friends? Or were you responding to the Davoren leaving part?
It's pretty clear that he was saying the part about rover having friends was garbage.

Jeez....

I would consider it by trying to answer three questions.
I would say that our rehab group is league worst and we have had some absolute horror stories over the past 4 years. There's one player who has struggled with recurrence injuries and he was cleared to recommence training without being scanned because he was asked whether he felt right and he said yes (we're actually that unprofessional in this area). I hope anyone that comes in will put a stop to that sort of rubbish, but you would have to take the word of Walsh.

It isn't quite that simple.

If anything, AFL clubs are prone to putting too much reliance on scans.

Scans won't show muscle strength/power/elasticity/tone, activation patterns, motor control or gait alterations. Some or all of these elements could be present with a clear scan.

I wasn't really implying that the scan should have been the determining factor, but I completely understand your point in the context of my post. I assume there's plenty that goes into determining whether a player should return to the track Collingwood just didn't do that on this and other occasions.

I suspect that this appointment is actually the one that will have by far the biggest impact on our club next year.

Get the right person is and it's mostly likely the difference between making finals or not.

I look at the fact that Sinclair missed the entire season with a HAMSTRING and both Varcoe and Wells missed around half the season total and I look at our results for the year.

Can't help but think that a full season from Sinclair, Varcoe and Wells would have had us playing in the 2017 finals. Easily.

True, but then they would have re-signed Buckley, ohh wait a second... they did that anyway

Have heard that Kevin White will be taking over Bill Davoren's role. White was the 2IC at the Pies this year.
Probably won't be called High Performance manager but will essentially be doing the same job.
White was brought out from Ireland in 2010 as a young sports scientist and worked under David Buttifant then Bill Davoren.
Only 29 years old, hopefully he will be an improvement on the last bloke.

This would be the absolute worst possible outcome.
