according to Fox graphics while I was watching the footy, the final is "Pat Cummins vs Mitchell Starc" so bad luck for the rest of the players. :drunk:
Funnily enough, their the two richest players in the IPL season.

You do realize that the ad us targeted at Aussies. They would say. Heinrich Klaasen v Shreyas Iyer

Great start for KKR - guessing this will be a replay of the match the other night.

Or Cumdawg is gonna step up and save the day once again like he always does.

Not a fan of the wheely bin stuff but curious to see how the boys go given the WC is around the corner.

Unless cumdawg decides to go full white ball batter again it's hard to see a path back to redemption here.

Short of a hattrick dismantling early over, I don't know how SRH come out of this without being incredibly embarassed. It's the lowest score in an IPL final ever.

Yes, I realise but they could put the team names and used the player graphics for same result.

The Blast starts this week. Despite the lack of glitz and glamour, I enjoy it more than the IPL due to the fact there are no timeouts, no drs and the game is more fast moving than the IPL. Games in the blast take little more than 180 minutes which can't be said for the IPL.

akkaps' Retention List

Given that we are heading into a big auction for 2025, here's my predictions on retentions. Seeing that nothing has been stated in regards on how many will be retained, I will stick with the rules of 4 retentions per team + 1 Right To Match card. Though the RTM card was note used last time, it's highly likely to be

As per the wiki page
Rich (BB code):
Player retention
With a total salary cap of INR 90 crore available at the mega auction for each
team, the eight franchises were eligible to retain up to 4 players with a
maximum of 3 Indians, 2 overseas players and 2 uncapped Indians.

Chennai Super Kings - Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Theekshana/Pathirana/Shivam/Conway
The first three are obvious, but I really hope MS Dhoni takes a pay cut for the benefit moving on. CSK could pick any of the following bowlers to be honest, the two international bowlers provide a base for the other bowlers to be selected, whist the two batsman offer maturity

Delhi Capitals - Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, Kuldeep Yadav
DC have Rishabh as captain for the foreseeable, and Stubbs has been a great inclusion this season, I can see Ponting trying to keep him. JFM might sneak in for a RTM, just due to how cheap he will be.

Gujarat Titans - Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Mohammed Shami
Shubman and Rashid pick themselves here, even though they both had lean seasons, they are the faces of the franchise. Sai has had an impressive IPL and having Shami means they can build a bowling attack around that.

Kolkata Knight Riders - Shreyas Iyer, Sunil Narine, Andrew Russell, Rinku Singh
This picks itself. As for Starc, I could see them use the RTM card here, KKR will always prioritize Narine and Russell as their internationals so no hope for Starc to get automatic selection here.

Lucknow Supergiants - Nicholas Pooran, Stionis/de Kock, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav
I don't see LSG picking KL, and I would not object them to picking Nicky P, though this honor may go to QdK. Bishnoi has been their preferred spinner and think he will stay, and they might back Mayank as he impressed with his speed and accuracy before getting injured

Mumbai Indians - Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan/Tilak
They will double down on the Hardik purchase, Bumrah and Sky are autopicked, and it's whether they prefer Kishan Ishan or Tilak, and may use RTM on the other. Roro will look elsewhere.

Punjab Kings - Shikhar Dhawan, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, Shahank/Ashutosh
Shikhar is the face of this franchise until he decides to retire. And after season Harshal has had, they should keep him. If Gabbar does decide to retire though, they could look at both Shashank and Ashutosh to keep. Big change for Shashank, considering he was an accidental buy

Rajasthan Royals - Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Trent Boult, Yuvendra/Riyan
Too many quality options here, not enough space. They may chose to go without Boult, but I think he is too good to let go in favour of Yuzi and Riyan. They will also be forced to let go of Buttler and Ashwin.

Royals Challengers Bengaluru - Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar
We all know they will always preference Kohli and batting, so it was easy for me to pick the fourth on this list. RCB also don't want to risk losing Faf back to CSK.

Sunrisers Hyderabad - Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, Head/Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy
Last time they went with young guys Abdul Samad and Umran Malik as retentions, they may do the same with Abhishek and Nitish, both quality upcomers in my opinion. That leaves Head or Klaasen or Bhuvi as the RTM pick, depending on the situation

Overseas players who make themselves unavailable for an IPL season after being bought at an auction without legitimate reasons will henceforth be penalised with two-year bans.

In a document shared with franchises listing the retention rules, the IPL said: "Any [overseas] player who registers for [an] auction and, after getting picked at the auction, makes himself unavailable before the start of the season will get banned from participating in the IPL/IPL auction for two seasons." The only exception, the governing council said, will be for "an injury/medical condition, which will have to be confirmed by the [player's] home board".

Probably to stop the players of cherry picking season they could come and go. Comp loses a bit of credibility if a Starc can get paid top dollar and then have a break for a season or two.

Id like to see the pay comparison between playing the IPL v playing in the retired leagues v playing the circuits as a fun to hire.

MS Dhoni has stayed with CSK for so long after his retirement, he could be earning more playing in the LLC/T10 comps. Shikhar Dhawan has just made the move to the retired leagues. And then compare this with how much the likes from Trent Boult and David Warner would be receiving playing the circuits

The IPL salary cap keeps going up, now they are are getting match fees for every game that is being played. However, it looks like Dhoni is gonna get a pay cut with the reintroduction of the uncapped player rule

The IPL Rentention list was announced last night. The 2025 auction is a BIG auction, whereby the majority of the players are released and only a handful are kept.
This season, a maximum of 6 players can be kept, the 6th player has to be an Indian uncapped player (not played International cricket for India in the past 5 years)

The pay structure is as follows, but teams are able to spread the money between players giving certain players more and others less, as long as it averages out

Player 1Player 2Player 3Player 4Player 5Uncapped

Mumbai Indians
Jasprit Bumrah 18crSuryakumar Yadav 16.35Hardik Pandya 16.35Rohit Sharma 16.3Tilak Varma 8cr
Aussies released: Tim David, Jason Benrendorff
Rohit Sharma stays after many rumors that he would leave the Indians for this season. Ishan Kishan is also a big player missing. I think Rishabh Pant and Trent Boult will be on their radar for next season

Sunrisers Hyderabad
Heinrich Klaasen 🇿🇦 23crPat Cummins 🇦🇺 18crAbhishek Sharma 14crTravis Head 🇦🇺 14crNitish Kumar Reddy 6cr
Aussies released: both were retained
Heavy overseas contingent with Cumdog and Travball staying with the franchise. Our top order is set. We've let go of Bhuvi, but expect an RTM card on him

Chennai Super Kings
Ruturaj Gaikwad 18crRavindra Jadeja 18crMatheesha Pathirana 🇱🇰 13crShivam Dube 12crMS Dhoni 4cr
Aussies released: non to retain
MSD takes a paycut to stay with the franchise, and I don't get the awe over Shivam Dube as I would have chosen a younger player. They have let go of all their Kiwi players as well

Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Virat Kohli 21crRajat Patidar 11crYash Dayal 8cr
Aussies released: Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green
The bigger name not there is Faf du Plessis. Siraj has also been released. Time for a restructure as well. Though I've heard that Virat wants the captaincy again, oh no.

Delhi Capitals
Axar Patel 16.5crKuldeep Yadav 13.25crTristan Stubbs 🇿🇦 10crAbishek Porel 4cr
Aussies released: David Warner, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mitchell Marsh, Jhye Richardson
Rishbah Pant was retained, probably the biggest news of the IPL. And the Aussies have been let go by the capitals, including coach Ricky Ponting who takes up a spot as Coach of the Punjab Kings. So expect Warner and JFM to probably be bought there

Kolkata Knight Riders
Rinku Singh 13crVarun Chakravarthy 12crSunil Narine 🇹🇹 12crAndre Russell 🇯🇲 12crHarshit Rana 4crRamandeep Singh 4cr
Aussies released: Mitchell Starc
No Shreyas Iyer. The IPL winning captain has been released. KKR will always prioritize Narine and Dre Russ, and then select them as specialist coaches. DJ Bravo has already taken a role as a mentor for next season. Good promising youth as well. As for Starcy, even though he came through in the finals, I don't think he was consistent enough during the season to warrant retention, plus him saying that he would only pick and chose the seasons he plays

Rajasthan Royals
Sanju Samson 18crYashasvi Jaiswal 18crRiyan Parag 14crDhruv Jurel 14crShimron Hetmyer 🇬🇾 11crSandeep Sharma 4cr
Aussies released: Adam Zampa
Simron Hetmyer was probably a bit of surprise here. The rest are understandable. Yuzi Chahal and R Ashwin both released. I think R Ashwin just needs to give it up already, take a coaching job.

Gujarat Titans
Rashid Khan 🇦🇫 18crShubman Gill 16.5crSai Sudharsan 8.5crRahul Tewetia 4crShahrukh Khan 4cr
Aussies released: Matthew Wade, Spencer Johnson
Rashid Khan was always gonna demand top dollar, and there was speculation that if didn't get top dollar that he would leave. So precious. Not sure on the keeping the two uncapped players, not sure they have proven themselves last season

Lucknow Super Giants
Nicolas Pooran 🇹🇹 21crRavi Bishnoi 11crMayank Yadav 11crMohsin Khan 4crAyush Badoni 4cr
Aussies released: Ashton Turner, Marcus Stionis
Stionis not being there is understandable, he's just a gun for hire now and will find a spot somewhere for cheap money.
The biggest name here is Rahul, RCB seem to be interested in him. Expect Nicky P to captain. And some good youth in their selections here.

Punjab Kings
Shashank Singh 5.5crPrabhsimran Singh 4cr
Aussies released: Nathan Ellis
No Arshdeep, whilst I don't think he's worth the 18cr, I feel like he should have been kept. Also no Shikhar due to retirement so they will look for a new poster boy. And with Ricky Ponting coaching, fully expect an Aussie flavor.
Prabsimran is a good pick, though I would have really liked to have seen more retained players. And Shashank, they player they accidentally bought stay, lol.
