When you have Jofra Archer going for 75 off 4 and Cummins going for 60 off 4, something is seriously wrong. Don’t understand people who say ‘the IPL is actually a very high standard of cricket’ it’s not even cricket as you say.

I genuinely think the approach is very different. The key thing would be adjusting to different styles eg grounds, wickets, and surfaces using that approach. Last nights game in Chennai being case in point.

I said this before, but is it any coincidence that someone like McGurk is scoring an abundance of runs in the IPL and has struggled in last seasons Bash? You cant bring that approach on some of the roads in the IPL over to the Bash.

Another thing is T20 cricket in todays age is very different to what it was when it turned professional around 2007-2008 especially from the batting perspectives.

Teams are no longer scared of playing their shots even if they have lost 2 or 3 wickets inside a powerplay (in some cases 4 wickets). A notable difference compared to other leagues up until this day, is teams probably look to take a few balls to consolidate. They are quite willing to still go for their shots with the field up. Probably in the IPL in recent seasons, is during the 7th to 10th over are periods where teams are more willing to consolidate and take less risks instead.

And dare I say, when T20 cricket was first introduced, alot of the ODI philosophies were adopted, build your innings in the first 12 to 14 overs, then look to hit out in the back 4 overs. There is a reason why white ball players like: Maxwell, Warner, Head have been successful for a fair while....and its more their approach. Those players even on the Australian wickets generally look to go for their shots at most opportunities.

I think Mumbai are going to be one of the teams that struggle this season based on the way they played last night. They look a real poor team to me.

I noticed Chennais lineup last night. They had Nathan Ellis batting at 10. Now I dont classify Ellis as a mug with the bat either. He did top score in one of the BBL games for the Hurricanes last season and can give it a whack. There probably is less importance on bowlers if wickets are going to be batting roads.
