Carlton Injury Update Monday 14 July 2009

Paul Bower - Knee - Test

Sam Jacobs - Foot - Test

Setanta O'hAilpin - General Soreness - Test

Darren Pfeiffer - Shoulder - Test

Jarrad Waite - Knee - Season

Andrew Walker - Shoulder - Test

Robert Warnock - Foot - 1-2 weeks

Simon Wiggins - Hamstring - Test

No Hampson on there, which is a good sign :)

Fingers crossed for the return of the Bower bird this week.

Hopefully 1AW carves the VFL to pieces and is back where he belongs for the game against the Pies, although the game against North is probably more realistic.

All of the players listed were in the recovery group. They look fit and ready for VFL. Pfeiffer has to impress or he will be delisted. Looking forward to the next couple of weeks, some of the fringe players in our 22 will find their places gone. Scotland and Stevens have to impress now if they want to get back into the team.

Thought he was playing in the seconds this week???

Warnock is a real concern from where I sit..think its unlikely we will see him in navy blue this year, fingers crossed we at the very least see him in red. He was interviewed on Ch 10 on the w.e and even he did not seem sure of when he would return.

Even putting the fitness level aside, Warnock hasnt really shown much at AFL level so I dont think you should be considering him having an impact back from injury. He's veyr much a WIP and we should lower our expectations on him.

Walker and Bower would add a lot to the side immediately and Setanta is better than Fisher, so that's 3 limbs in to improve our team.

Totally agree. He has shown nothing thus far that would suggest an immediate impact can be made

Hopefully Setanta and Bower are right to go. Our defence is looking a touch suspect at the moment and Bower will strengthen it right up. We should be able to account for Sydney this week but we're going to need to be at full strength to account for the Pies, even accounting for our recent dominance.

I actually didn't think that Bower would be this close for this weeks game. I thought he was still going to be another week away. The other player we get back is Austin, after he served his one match suspension.

Also, great to see Hampson not on that list. His form has been ok recently, and if he could time his leap for marks a little better, he could be quite dangerous in the ruck in tandem with Kreuzer.

C'mon, we all know that was a media beat-up designed to sell newspapers.

First he tumbled awkwardly and rushed down to the rooms to get the all clear that he hadn't done any serious damage. Hampson then received a swipe to the nose (no free kick!) but was able to return to the field after some minor first aid.

If he was badly injured, he wouldn't have returned to the field and played on. A light week on the track, perhaps, but certainly nothing to select Cloke over. :p

Expect 1 or 2 more to be added to that injury list by the end of the week. Ones a bit out of left field...i'm not at liberty to discuss any further so dont ask any questions all will be revealed in good time should certain individuals require time off..

Bullsh!t

Having either Warnock or Jacobs back will allow Kreuzer to go forward more. We need that.

Good to see Bower is getting better quickly. And look out for AW in the ants this week!

Unfortunately as the season progresses it's looking more and more likely that Warnock won't have much of an impact. Won't be back playing at any level till round 17/18 and even then will require at least three, probably four games to gain adequate match fitness and touch. Which will mean it'll be round 21/22 before we see him.

I think the point stands that even if we did see him he's still young and hasnt provided much so you shouldnt be expecting a quantum change in output from our rucks.

I agree with that however I think his value, at least in the short term, comes from him freeing up Kreuzer to play more up forward. I'm hoping a fit and bulkier Warnock can shoulder a minimum 50% of the ruckwork next year to allow Kreuz to push forward.

Not quite we'll wait for later in the week to confirm though...

There is nothing stopping you from naming the player/s in question, so if you're not going to then why mention anything at all:confused:

You knowing this information means absolutely nothing if you're not willing to share it.

whats happened to mitch rob.?????????????

Not good enough to be in our top 22 and at VFL level he gets himself suspended for 2 matches. Won't play this week either because of the bye. Don't like his attitude at times....

I have watched him play many times for freo and he has showed alot more than Hampson so I would think we could use him.
