Is that some kind of sick joke

You want to trade Mark williams and Ben Dixon our only forward line WTF!!!

Mate we would have Franklin, Kennedy, Ryder, Davies, Everitt, Boyle, Croad, Crawford etc.. in the forward line. If you think Williams and Dixon is our full forward line then we are in a sad situation!!

Can you just clear up for me how we get Minson let alone the others mentioned, WB would not be remotely interested in any of the players mentioned for trade, and i dare say wouldn't trade him regardless.

Nah, nah - you see the Bulldogs need a key forward, and Williams just kicked 60-odd goals,so he'd be really good for their forward line 'coz they're so light on for talls.....oh hang on, wait a minute........

Sack that, and all of Jimmy Boy's 'pie in the sky' trade suggestions.
Having said that, his de-listings are all legitimate.

Mcmahon out of contract, swap salopek for miller and late pick, Minson for Williams and Dixon lol,, this is Hopes remember lads lol

Would never trade Smith after being so loyal to us last year. This is his first down year, and has looked much better when having a run in the midfield this year. Wouldn't get what he is worth. Mark Williams? Trade a kid after having his best year... I think not.

I wouldn't expect huge changes this year. The obvious 6/7
Ball Greene Holland Beaumont Scott Nixon .. maybe Barker unless he pulls off a miracle (here's hoping he does btw)

Why trade Dixon? Wouldn't get anything decent for him and he still is required on our list for depth purposes because... well.. we have no depth.. yet.

Ries is a player that may get some interest from clubs without a pure in and under player. I like him a lot, and he actually is a smart player, but his kicking is just not up to it. Shame when a player almost has all the right stuff except for one thing that totally lets him down. And in a side with 3/4 better options in and under, his kicking had to be good to save him

But yeah, disagree with a lot of your trades JimmyBoy

your an idiot, why would we trade our quickest leading forward who is only 21
disgrace to the club you are

You guys are pretty rough calling me a disgrace because i think we should make the most of Mark Williams form!! The fact of the matter is he is not a kpp forward and when he plays as an option he may kick goals but we dont win. When he doesnt play as our main forward, he is disapointing. you must admit that Williams sturggles to fit in when he plays second fiddle. I mean dont take these things so seriously.

I asked who you think should be in it and what you think should happen. I didnt want to upset people and get them to attack me. Why dont u guys have a shot at it and see how difficult it is.

You guys are so judgemental that you rip apart someone without even showing what you think. Thats called being cowards!! we dont want them at this club, do we?

So we get our young players up and running. Give them hope, confidence, game time, get them to deliver some great performaces and then say "thanks, we got your value up, we'll sell you now and your on your own now"

I like Hawthorn and its players, and prefer to keep all of them, especially ones like Willo who have enormous talent. What's to say he wont get better? What's to say he'll prove a mighty headace for the opposition teams when he's only getting the third best defender when we have Croady and Franklin firing soon. Or Roughead Franklin and Croady firing down there.

You don't trade away quality young players when we are rebuilding. It would be crazy.

Most sensible post put thus far on this subject of trading, cschreuder61.

Bookmark this folks. Hawthorn will be having little business to do come trading season. Williams, Miller and Dixon will be going nowhere. And what's the romance with Salopek? We have better young talent of his size, 183 (6'), 83 kg. He is injury and illness prone ... played only 5 senior games with Port this season.

Hawk's trading deals will be limited ..... maybe looking for a ruckman and a KPP .... but bear in mind what is out there in the market place to buy anyways? Nothing worthwhile to spend our valuable dollars on.

Stick with, recruit and nurture talented youngsters, I say.

Come on, mate. When Williams plays well we don't we???????? Who in the hell does play well when we win. Seriously, we're in the 1st year of a full rebuilding phase. You don't trade away players that'll play a 10 year role in the club. It'd be like when the traded away Croad. A major ********ed off fest amongst the supporter base. Anyway, that being said, Williams won't be traded (as long as Jimmyboy9 is not involved in the inner circles). We don't need players like Braun and James. Hawthorn has gone the way of full rebuild. I can't see any reason on picking up a Braun (who West Coast wouldn't let go anyway) when we have/will have after this draft, a multitute of midfielders looking for spots.

1) NO TRADES
2) KEEP our picks
3) CONNTINUE what was only just started
4) BE PATIENT

Good on ya for having a crack Jimmyboy , I'll stick my neck out and cop the abuse....here goes...

Delist - Holland, Beaumont, Kane, Scott, Ball, Nixon and Barker is questionable.

Out (look to trade) - Ries , Miller , Hay , Greene , R. Campbell

In (possibilities via Trade) - Brogan , Chaplin (P.A) Tenace (Gee) , Fevola (Carl) , Hansan , McDougall (W.C)

Draft 2005 in - Ellis , Ryder , Tuck

Pre Season - re-draft Doug Scott :p ............only gaggin'

My reasoning behind the trades ;

Dean Brogan - earlier in the year wasn't getting much game time , this may change now with the Primus injury and put an end to this trade , but AC would know his capabilities and I'd prefer him to Campbell. Would complement Spider nicely.

Troy Chaplin - Young KPP Defender, Victorian, used sparingly at Port , like him. I think Port do too! ;)

Kane Tenace - battling to break into a strong Geelong midfield , quick, good skills, outside player , what we need especially if we don't get Ellis.

Brendan Fevola - looking for a FF?? AC has mentioned the need to recruit a FF , but this ones a risky proposition albeit an an exciting one. Pick 6 and Pick 22 may have to head to Optus Oval to snare him.

Ashley Hansen - Started the year well , but has droped off , Tall KPP forward. If Fevola's too expensive Hansen's a good option. Hawks are interested.

Andrew McDougall - Injury prone , tall KPP , may be worth a look. The Eagles may have run out of patience.

Just my thoughts.........I'd be very happy with 1 or 2 of these guys.

I agree with amos. Why not go 1 step further and throw Crawfords name out there and see what it attracts.
Whilst a very tough call (awesome servant for the club), but lets face it, mentally he is fragile - giving up the captaincy.
His play has been solid but he has made some poor play disicions causing turn overs resulting in opposition goals through out the season.
He has been changing with Hodgey off the HBF allowing the opposition to drag him back to their goal face and take him out of the play, limiting his effectiveness.
His position can be covered and his durability could be in question.
He has to be an attractive short term gain for anyone. He doesn't fit into our long term plans and the trade off long term could add to a dynasty.

Hawk 71, good to see someone have a shot aswell, people say a lot and our always negative. Get over it and just say who u want to draft if u dont want to trade anyone. Their should be nothing wrong with having an opinion!!

Fair call, would we have the balls to do it? Imagine the supporter backlash. Great first post.

Thanx - Clarkson's been black & white all year - with the help of Evans & Kennett they could put a positive spin providing the right deal could be struck (again not sure what that would be). Find middle ground reinforcing the Rawlings out come and learn from the Croad deal (I think we agreed he had to go - it was how it was excuted that was questionable to the members).

I think the opportunity to trade Crawford was the end of last year when Crawf was looking for an out. I'd say now he's of more value staying, providing leadership and advice to the younger guys.

Zero point and I mean zero, in trading Crawford.

One. Half his wage is on a vet's list (the only player we have on it). He's still a 500k player that we are only being (AFL cap wise) being listed for as half that towards overall payments.

Two. Supporter backlash. He IS the face of the club. Look at the Croad fiasco and how tht tore us apart at the time. That'd be the proverbial storm in the teacup if Crawford were to leave.

Three. Age, he's to old now to hold any real value, for us trade wise or for another club taking him on. He'd be at full salary (aforementioned 500+k per season) and included in whoevers books as such. He'd no longer command a top ten trade, maybe not even an equitable trade (again, back to the $$$ issue) for us.

If ever there was a time to trade it was last year. A small midfielder who's slowing and has perhaps two seasons left (given his own stated aims that he's got other interests *i.e television* he wants to pursue) in the near future.

It's not going to happen.
