I would see Addison as a chance. He was certainly in the centre square for Willi and is the more defensive minded player.

Ward has been asked to play midfield and defensive type roles so Addison is the nearest like for like replacement.

While some are calling for Jones and Hooper to get a game, I would think it is not time to be playing anyone who is not seen as viable alternative in September.

Conventional wisdom would dictate that one of Eagleton or Everitt replaces Ward.

Just thinking outside the square for a moment, who could be deemed a left field selection? Hooper, Jones, or perhaps even DFA?

Purely based on current form from Williamstown, I would say Rose. He is flying at the moment, kicks goals and has worked hard on his fitness. I think he can step up quite easily.

But I think the safest bet will be Everitt, he was very unlucky to be dropped last week.

Isn't Rose still on the rookie list?

Pretty sure he is, but am sure the new rule introduced last year allows all rookies to be elevated after round 11. So I can see the issue for him not getting a game. This also applies to Hooper, who is also a rookie.
Not all rookies.

There was an article about Pods the other day in the H/S.

This part is relevant:

Under AFL rules, clubs can nominate one rookie between Round 11 and Round 22 who can play seniors as a "mid-year rookie", provided they fit under the salary cap - and the Cats have nominated Podsiadly.

Our nominated rookie is Andrew Hooper.

I no longer dislike Cross. He has changed his game over the last few months to become a more attacking player. Anybody else notice this? He had only 2 dinky-doo backwards easy give-off handpasses on the weekend. One was called on him by a passing player, so that was good. The other was part of a switch across the field. That was good too. In previous times he had games, (that people gave him votes in), where every second pass went backwards. Not now though, I like him now.

I'll let Crossy know. He'll be delighted he now has your approval.

Everitt deserves a recall. But it would be good if Howard got a taste of senior footy this year as Grant did last year.

Out: Ward, Johnson (rested)

In: Everitt, Eagleton

Liam Jones will be playing.

It would be good to get a look at him at the to level but if they are fair dinkum about Everrit they should give him first crack as a tall forward

I think you can read into this that Hall wont be going on next year and they want to prep up Jones as a leading full forward.

If they wanted a tall forward then yes Everitt would get a game.

Finally they are biting the bullet and going youth albeit in a measured way.

Why would Hall retire when he has 58 goals from 16 games? Age is a number, remember Alastair Lynch?

Maybe the club is playing him because he both deserves a taste of senior footy and quite possibly an insurance policy in the event of Johnno not able to see the season out, means one less forward come finals time.

Eade has publicly stated a lead up forward role is not Everitt's go so Jone's is getting an opportunity to show his wares.

Would love to see Hall retire in the same way :p:D

Seeing that apparently Jones will debut, that will be the only change.

As for Everitt, he's not in the side because noone seems to know where they want to play him. Hopefully we can keep him for another year, with a retirement or two and the probable loss of Harbrow, there will surely be a spot for him.
