1. The "Red" team lacked the physicality. We will go back to the drawing board and start again.

2. The game lacked intensity and was not a serious hit out.

3. The new draftees did not play up to our expectations. We are having second thoughts.

4. Big Sav Rocca is looking fat and it looks like nothing has changed since he left Collingwood.

5. Bowen Lockwood showed nothing to suggest that he is going to be able to play more than 6 games this year.

6. Our Ansett cup squad is basically settled, so this game will have no bearing whatsoever on who plays.

7. Our players fitness is generally at a lower point than at the same time last year.

8. Nothing much has changed really. I still think we will be lucky to finished above 12th.

9. This pre-season has been the fifth toughest in the clubs history.

10. Our players came back from their break generally fatter, lazier and without enthusiasm.

any more ???

Rick Olarenshaw is struggling on the track and is not a waste of a draft pick

I really CAN wait until the start of the AFL season, & the boys really arnt fired up to get stuck into it. Our new coach is doing things in the same incompetent fashion as the old coach, and I for one will be trying to get him out of here asap.

Gee boys what we really need at Doggyland is a tall, big marking defender.

I'm happy with the game, the rules and the AFL in every possible way and I don't think we should waste anymore money trying to interest those folks overseas... of and David Parkin is actually my secret brother...

Competition is set to be fierce in Saturday’s internal trial as 37 Power players go about confirming or trying to prove their round one Ansett Cup spot. Football Manager Rob Snowdon said the match would be “highly competitive” as there is a large group of players racing to make the final 24 to play Essendon on Saturday week.

Only seven players of the 44 in our squad (including rookies) will miss the match due to recovering from injury. They are Stephen Paxman, Peter Burgoyne, Shane Bond, Bowen Lockwood, Adam Morgan, Adam Kingsley and rookie Steve Brosnan.

Those making their first appearance for the year include Gavin Wanganeen, Brendon Lade, Darryl Wakelin, Michael Wilson and Matthew Bishop.

The ‘teal team’, led by Matthew Primus, will go into the trial as clear favourites to win the trial, due to the decision to make one team stronger than the other in preparation for the Ansett Cup.

With a few exceptions, so as to maintain team balance and key match-ups, the ‘teal team’ contains the players needing to hold onto their Ansett Cup position, while those in the ‘yellow team’ are generally the ones who Snowdon said will “need to show something on Saturday to earn selection”.

Also, some players have been specifically matched up against each other to battle it out for the one spot."

"I actually think we should just wait until the season has started before boasting about how good we are" "We should also question why our team is failing, and not just accept anything eddie mcguire tells us on the footy show"

I thought all the players (except those injured) would be "making their first appearance for the year"

Don't expect to hear:

"Look, the reality is all we have to do is turn up, to win the Ansett Cup"

"I can't believe we wasted a first round draft pick on this guy ... he's a deadset spaz"

"You know that was a really good game actually, I think we should play ourselves every week!"

"What we are looking for is a guy that can play in one position, and one position only."

"The umpires were awful at today's internal hit-out. Our players had twice as many free kicks paid against them."

"No it doesn't worry me that our VFL-squad forwards kicked 42 goals against our AFL-squad backline."

"I actually reckon we've get LESS depth this year."

"Do think we can give Braddles any more hints to retire without being too obvious?"

"There are a few of us at Collingwood who feel the bloke who traded Williams to Sydney should be strung up by the thumbs."

"You bet I'm going to use injuries as an excuse this year - geez, I've used just about every other excuse!"

"Look, you know it's going to be a long season when you've just worked out your captain is a jib, and always has been."

"Yeah, you're right. I do feel my job as coach is on the line."

"A bit of over-enthusiasm? Is that what you call it when you're captain has just been king hit by your fullback? Of course we've got bloody internal problems!"
